Week 1
Mila: On week 1, we reviewed last year's PYPx blog and were divided into groups of five to six people. Our group elected me as the leader, and we discussed the top issues we could focus on. Our top three were education, marine pollution, and deforestation, and we decided to choose education as our topic.
Kate: On week 1, we reviewed last year's PYPx blog and were sorted into groups of five to six. Our group elected Mila as the leader, and we discussed the top 3 issues: education, marine pollution, and deforestation.
Darren: On week 1, we were introduced to PYPx and organized into groups of 5 to 6 people. We also chose Mila as our group leader and we start brainstormed a range of potential issues, both local and global. Our top three issues were education, marine pollution and deforestation and we decided to choose education for our topic.
Caleb: On week 1, we were introduced to PYPx. And the teachers spread us to different groups. Each group had five to six people. We voted for a leader and we all chose Mila.
Week 2
Mila: On week 2, we had a session on academic integrity with Ms Maria Fe. Our parents were also arranging interviews with officials from the Ministry of Education. Later, Ms Priyanka advised our group that we were moving too quickly, and we realized we needed to slow down.
Kate: On week 2, we had a session with Ms. Maria Fe and started working on our blogs. Meanwhile, our parents were already planning interviews, even though our topic hadn't been finalized yet.
Darren: On week 2, we had a session with Ms. Maria Fe about academic integrity. While our group's parents started researching and planning interviews, Ms. Priyanka pointed out that we were moving too quickly. After reflecting on her advice, we decided to focus on Education as our main topic.
Caleb: On week 2, we had a session with our mentors, Ms Debby and Ms Maria, who helped us with our action plan. To our surprise, we were making great progress. We also discussed the possibility of organizing a beach clean-up or a bazaar.
Week 3
Mila: On week 3, Ms. Lea taught us how to create central ideas and lines of inquiry. However, Ms. Priyanka informed us that another group had already chosen Education as their topic, so she suggested we focus on Mental Health instead. My group found it challenging to research this new topic.
Kate: On week 3, we suddenly changed our topic to Mental Health, but soon after, we switched to Plastic Pollution. We then began researching this new topic.
Darren: On week 3, we conducted general research to determine the specific aspect of education we should focus on and decided to cover the loss of education. However, another group claimed they had already confirmed this topic, so we had to choose a different one.
Caleb: On week 3, we were still struggling to choose a topic but then we were thinking of choosing the topic mental health. We wanted to choose this topic but another group had already chosen this specific topic. Because of this we decided to change plans and decided to choose plastic pollution as our final topic decision.
Week 4
Mila: On week 4, Mrs. Priyanka suggested that marine pollution would be an easier topic to focus on, so we decided to make it our final topic. We then worked on our central idea, LOIs, additional concepts, and specified concepts.
Kate: On week 4, Ms. Priyanka told us we were falling behind and needed to catch up. As a result, we decided to make marine pollution, specifically plastic pollution, our final topic. We then worked on our central idea, lines of inquiry (LOIs), specified concepts, and additional concepts.
Darren: On week 4, Ms. Priyanka told us that we needed to catch up, so we decided to shift our focus to marine plastic pollution. Once the topic was settled, we were able to catch up quickly and make good progress.
Caleb: On week 4, I made a list of organizations we could interview, including NGOs, Komisi 4 DPRRI, and the Sea Conservatorium. I also came up with the idea of bringing a large box to school and asking students to contribute unused plastic. We could then take the collected plastic to vendors, have it recycled into bags, and sell the bags. The money raised would be donated to the organizations.
Week 5
Mila: On week 5, I had just returned from holiday. We finished our LOI questions and made changes to LOI 3. We’ve also been planning our action, and we’re almost done with it.
Kate: On week 5, we began working on the LOI questions and action planning. We also made some changes to LOI 3. We finalized the LOI questions and started brainstorming ideas for our action.
Darren: In week 5, we began working on the LOI questions, which were reviewed by Ms. Priyanka. We also started our action plan and completed it by the end of the week.
Caleb: In week 5, we worked with our mentors again, focusing on our LOI questions and action plan. We all collaborated well and listened to the mentors, who were very helpful. I felt sad when Steven left our team.
Week 6
Mila: On week 6, we focused on planning our action. Mrs. Priyanka informed us that our 3rd LOI had changed, so we edited it and finalized our LOI questions.
Kate: In week 6, we finalized our action plan and created our lines of inquiry. We had to revise our 3rd line of inquiry because it was confusing.
Darren: In week 6, we created and finalized our LOIs. We also had to revise the third LOI because it was a bit confusing.
Caleb: In week 6, we finalized our LOIs, but we also had to make a few changes to them.
Week 7
Mila: On week 7, Darren had already created the presentation, so all I needed to do was contact Ms. Priyanka. I also brought a box as part of our action plan.
Kate: On week 7, my group members brought boxes for the presentation, and Darren created the presentation. All that was left to do was contact the grade level heads.
Darren: I created the presentation last week and am ready to present it to the group. We also practiced the presentation, and I practiced as a backup just in case.
Caleb: On week 7, Darren created the presentation for our group, and we practiced presenting. While waiting for my turn, I felt confident, but once I started presenting, I felt nervous. However, after watching Mila present, I was able to improve.
Week 8
Mila: On week 8, Anderson joined our group, and on the first day, Darren was absent. We finished our LOI 1 questions and completed one part of our action by presenting to grade 4. However, we realized we were missing something important—data.
Kate: On week 8, Anderson joined our group and helped us with our project. We visited Grade 4 to raise awareness about plastic marine pollution. During the presentation, Mr. Phillip suggested we add numbers to make it more impactful. We also completed our research for the first LOI.
Darren: I remember being absent on the first day, but I still managed to get a lot of work done. This week, the student mentors joined us and introduced themselves, and we presented our work to Grade 4.
Caleb: Anderson joined our group, and I was happy to have him on board. He was a big help. I felt sad when Steven left the team, leaving us with just four members, but Anderson’s addition made a positive difference.
Anderson: On week 8, I joined the group, but Darren was absent. We finished our first LOI questions and presented to Grade 4. Mr. Phillip pointed out that our PPT was missing "numbers" to make it more impactful.
Week 9
Mila: On week 9, I completed 2 out of 3 of my presentations in Grade 5. We also planned our two interviews, with the first one being with Pak Sonny, the president of Komisi 4, scheduled for Tuesday.
Kate: We gave a presentation to classes 5A and 5B as part of our action. We also have an interview with Pak Sonny planned on next Tuesday. Additionally, our parent mentors joined us this week.
Darren: This week, we gave a quick but informative presentation to 5A. On Friday, we presented to 5B as well, and we also finished preparing our questions for the interview.
Caleb: On week 9, we presented to 5A and completed our presentation to Grade 3. We also conducted an interview with DPRRI Komisi 4.
Anderson: We planned our interview with Pak Sonny from Komisi 4 and prepared our questions for him.
Week 10
Mila: On week 10, we had our first interview with Pak Sonny. We also began planning for our bazaar the following week.
Kate: On week 10, we conducted our first interview with Pak Sonny and Pak Ketut from DPRRI Komisi 4. I also created a spreadsheet of the items I plan to sell at the bazaar. Additionally, we planned to record our voices for our jingle.
Darren: On week 10, I remember having our first interview with Pak Sonny and Pak Ketut from DPRRI Komisi 4. On Friday after school, we recorded our voices for the jingle as part of our action plan. I also checked the items we plan to sell at the bazaar, including DCA bucket hats, keychains, belts, nobi bags, t-shirts, eco bags, and more. Additionally, I created a bazaar plan spreadsheet as the Finance Manager.
Caleb: On week 10, we completed our interview with Pak Sonny and Pak Ketut at DPRRI Komisi 4.
Anderson: On week 10, we started planning for our bazaar. We interviewed Pak Sonny and Pak Ketut from DPRRI Komisi 4, and recorded our voices for the jingle at Caleb's house.
Week 11
Mila: On week 11, we had an interview with DemiBumi and set up our turtle sculpture, made entirely out of plastic. This was part of our effort to raise awareness about marine pollution.
Kat: On week 11, we did our 2nd interview with DemiBumi. We also made our artifact of a turtle with plastic. We collected trash and sended it to the vendor called reco system. We practised our jingle for the presentation for Grade 3 to Grade 8.
Darren : On Friday, we did our 2nd interview with DemiBumi (and the co-founder is Mrs. Jessica Halim) and we also did the turtle artifact that will be part of our action. On Saturday, me and Caleb did the Ocean Savers sign board for our bazaar using recycled parts. We also collected trash and sent it to a recycle vendor. We also practiced the choreography for our jingle for next week performance during spellbound final round.
Caleb: On Friday, we conducted our second interview with DemiBumi. They explained a lot about their products and how they set up the organization. They also showed us a candle made from reused honeycombs, which was edible and stayed lit for over 45 minutes. Additionally, they introduced a plant we could use to make soap, which is a more eco-friendly alternative to regular soap that contains microbeads. Meanwhile, Darren and I created an Ocean Savers signboard from recycled plastic for the bazaar. We also recorded both audio and video for our jingle in my dad's studio.
Anderson: On Friday, we had our second interview with Ms Jessica, the co-founder of DemiBumi, which sells eco-friendly items, like eatable beeswax candles (Which burned for over 45 minutes!), loofah sponges, and non-microbead soap and shampoo bars, etc. It was very informative, and we'll learned a lot from them, and they also showed us an app that lets you see if a product has microplastics from the ingredients table.
Week 12
Mila: On week 12, we did a bazaar to raise money to plant mangroves. Then, on friday, we went to Ekowisata and planted a total of 40 Mangroves.

Darren: This week, we did 2 days bazaar to raise funds for DCA (Divers Clean Action) whose planting mangroves to protect the environment from trash and harm. We also started researching on the LOI 3 questions and we finally had over 50 responses for our survey. We promoted our jingle to spread awareness during spellbound final round and I did a presentation to the grade 10 for our bazaar as well. On Friday, we interviewed the DCA as part of our 3rd interview and planted some mangroves as part of our action. On Saturday, me and Caleb went to my house to finish the turtle artifact.
Caleb: At week 12 we did our Bazaar, Monday until Tuesday we sold ecobags, keychains and shirts. Besides our products we sold products form the NGO such as bucket hats, belt, and bags. On Wednesday, we performed and presented our jingle from Grades 3 to 8 during the spellbound assembly. On Friday, we also finished our 3rd interview with an orginization called Divers Clean Action (DCA) and planted mangroves. Afterwards, I went to Darren's house to finish the art installation.
Anderson: On week 12, we did a bazaar for two days to raise money (In which we sold various items: T-shirts, bucket hats, pins, ecobags, keychains, glow-in-the-dark turtles, and more!), which we used to plant a total of 40 mangroves in a mangrove forest. We also learned about the four types of mangroves from the DCA (Divers Clean Action).
Mila: On week 13, we are nearing the end of our PYP Exhibition. I was absent from Monday to Wednesday because I had a fever. We are finishing the blog this week. We are also preparing for our PYP exhibition. This is one of the most stressful, chaotic, and busiest weeks.
Kate: On week 13, we're finishing the blog. We only have one and a half weeks until our real PYP Exhibition. We finished a lot of things this week like our blog and our survey analysis. Mila split the parts we have to do (I don't know if she did anything). This is one of the most busy, chaotic and stressful weeks in our whole exhibition, because we needed to finish most of our things for our exhibition.
Darren: This week is one of the final weeks of PYPx! This was one of the busiest (and most chaotic) weeks so far because it's grind time as we completed a whole bunch of stuff. It was also grind time because we are beginning to get our booth ready and since a lot of stuff should be handmade, it has been pretty stressful. Mila split our jobs: Kate put the thank yous (though the entire group helped out so not everything was Kate's), Caleb needed to put a picture or two in every page (I did a lot of it), Anderson needed to revise and check everything, and I needed to plan for the blackboard panel.
Caleb: On week 13, we are very close to the end of the PYPx. And this was one of the busiest weeks. Darren, Kate, and I had practice sessions for the school play, so Anderson and Mila were the ones that did almost all the work. On Sunday, I went to Darren's house to finish the posters.
Anderson: This week, we are getting very close to the end of PYPx. Mila was absent from Monday to Wednesday because she was sick. Ms Priyanka said that we have to make 70% of our posters handmade (Uhhhhhh), and that only a few could be A3 and the rest should be A4, so we are going to plan the sizes of the posters. We also planned who will make which posters, but our blog still has to get fixed in some areas.
Week 14
Mila: We are getting closer to the end of our PYP Exhibition. Over the past 13 weeks, we have done so much. It has been a long journey, but also really fun and inspiring for me. Now that it is week 14, we still have a lot to finish on our agenda. We need to make posters, complete our blog, and prepare our presentation. We also have to set up our booth. There is so much to do!
On top of all that, we have to practice for our opening ceremony. It's going to be one hour long! We planned a play, and there are songs and a musical part too. We even have dances as part of the show. We want everything to be just right. Nothing must go wrong on Tuesday or Wednesday. Everyone is excited but also nervous.
Kate: It's just a week before PYPx! There was so much work done, also a lot of emotions coming out and hard time for us to finish almost everything for our PYPx. We practiced for our presentation and made ourselves into two small groups. We also made the posters and decorations for our booth. It was challenging that we had to finish so many posters in a few sessions. Memorizing the script was really challenging too. I loved cooperating with my group members, it was fun!
We also did many practices for our opening ceremony (That made less time for making our posters). We have a play called Beauty and the Frankenstein (Caleb, Darren, and me are in the play) we have a singing and dancing performance of the song Man in the Mirror, and there is going to be a musical performance of Yamko Rambe Yamko. It is going to be one hour and 15 minutes long! I am so excited and nervous, because it is the most important project in PYP. I hope everything goes well!
Darren: As we are getting closer to the end of PYPx (very sad), we prepared for that day when everything will surely go right! We have been going around the clock in order to get everything roughly done, or in other words, it was grind time: the sequel. This week, everyone was worn out, and the teachers were at the peak of anger, since we did everything a bit too sloppily, and after a few conflicts, we were ready to give up.
From Monday to Friday, we did about everything that we knew about (except the sticking the stuff into the panels and our Week 14 reflection), and everything was basically good-to-go! We did the opening ceremony several times, too, as we still needed to clean up a few bits and bobs. In the end, we pulled through the week with immense energy and effort and we made it to the end of this week.
Hopefully, everything will go as planned in our presentation.
Caleb: This is the busiest week of PYPx. We had to finish the our quiz and finish the posters, too. I was struggling in this week. I had to memorise my script for the PYPx presentation. We did not have much time for practicing our group presentation because we had play practice, Yamko Rambe Yamko practice, and Man in the Mirror practice.
Our posters were halfway done, so I was glad although I needed to memorize our script. It took time for me to memorize it. We also presented to another group and we got suggestions about things we needed to fix. At this week we have a lot of work to do. So our mentors cannot come.
Anderson: This was about the busiest week by far. We had long practice sessions where we practiced the whole opening ceremony, play, don't stop me now, and man in the mirror. We also made all our posters in time, finished the blog, practiced our presentation in our groups of two and three, presented to other groups, and recieved and gave feedback to them. Darren also painted bubble wrap blue for our panel.
I think it was high time we got our posters done, though. Throughout the exhibition, we had this long list of Things We Needed To Get Done and the final exhibition looming. It was about time we got it off our minds. We also got feedback from the groups we presented to, and we improved. They also gave feedback on our blogs about things that we missed. After that, we fixed the blog, and it is finished now (Well, sort of). We also have to paste all the posters on Monday.
