Since the opening of the Observatory Living Complex a significant amount of work has been undertaken to improve the security of the Complex. There have been changes to electronic access to the basement doors, strengthening of door closers, and increased monitoring of suspicious activity. As such we have a much safer and secure Complex.
As residents of an apartment complex we share responsibility to not only safeguard our own property and person but that of our fellow residents. It is incumbent on us all to ensure the security of our Complex. An awareness of security issues and simple measures can assist us in avoiding burglary, theft and threats to our own safety.
The following steps will help to provide a secure safe environment for everyone:
Do NOT tailgate other vehicles into or out of the basement. Use your swipe card every time.
Especially at night please STOP after entry/exit until the roller door comes down so other vehicles or pedestrians cannot follow you into the basement unless they use a swipe card.
Secure all property within approved storage areas and keep your storage area securely locked.
Do not leave valuable items in your car.
Bikes should be stored in bike cages, where available, and should also be secured with an anti theft locking device.
Vigilance is a key element in avoiding break-ins and threats to safety. Report suspicious behaviour immediately to the ACT Police on 000 in a life threatening or emergency situation or 131 444 otherwise.
Do NOT challenge or otherwise confront suspicious persons.
Report any property damage or break-ins (e.g. damage to doors, locks, etc) to the ACT Police on 131 444.
After reporting to the ACT Police, please contact Grady Strata via email or via phone to 6251 1214 to enable any repair to common property or for advice or assistance regarding other damage. Grady Strata and Facilities contact numbers and details are on the noticeboards in each building foyer.
The Executive Committee and Grady Strata and Facilities are always looking at cost-effective ways to ensure the safety and security of the Complex. If you have any ideas or suggestions please contact Grady Strata and Facilities.
