Appendix 2: Recommended Experiment Procedures
- The main point of this experiment is to get a complete understanding of the instrument’s sound spectrum. For this purpose, the bridge is hit with the hammer, horizontally and vertically, at different positions relative to the microphone.
- At the end, the data sets needed would be: the sound spectrum recorded at 12 different positions (each incremented by 30 degrees, as to cover the whole 360 degrees) with a horizontal (H) and vertical (V) tap data set in each position
- For each position and tap direction, multiple taps are recorded and averaged to account for random errors in the experiment. The default (and recommended) setting is 5 taps per position.
- Thus, your end data titles might look like: InstrumentName_30degrees_H.
