Appendix 2: Recommended Experiment Procedures

    1. The main point of this experiment is to get a complete understanding of the instrument’s sound spectrum. For this purpose, the bridge is hit with the hammer, horizontally and vertically, at different positions relative to the microphone.
    2. At the end, the data sets needed would be: the sound spectrum recorded at 12 different positions (each incremented by 30 degrees, as to cover the whole 360 degrees) with a horizontal (H) and vertical (V) tap data set in each position
    3. For each position and tap direction, multiple taps are recorded and averaged to account for random errors in the experiment. The default (and recommended) setting is 5 taps per position.
    4. Thus, your end data titles might look like: InstrumentName_30degrees_H.
