The anatomy of the Respiratory System

What are the functions of the organs found in the respiratory system?

The above images represent what happens during breathing. You inhale air containing oxygen which travels through the respiratory system. Here, oxygen is brought into the blood through small blood vessels called cappillaries. At the same time, carbon dioxide is being removed from the blood as a waste product. Finally, the air in your lungs, now rich in carbon dioxide, is forced back out of your respiratory tube.
