AIM: Why are elephants and rhinos known as pachyderms?

Breakdown scientific words into their greek/latin prefix/suffix to find the meaning of the word

Scientific language can be dense and discouraging to read sometimes, but the words are complicated because they are descriptions of the process being identified. For example, we can break down the word --pachyderms-- into two parts: pachy (meaning thick) and derm (meaning skin). When viewed in this light, its easy to see why we call them that; they are thick skinned animals.
