SEVENTH Annual Northwest Santa Clara Valley MATHCOUNTS Chapter Competition was very successful!
From across the Cupertino, Sunnyvale and West San Jose area, 17 private and public schools and about 200 middle school students came together and compete at Cupertino Middle School on Saturday , February 8th, 2025, for the Northwest Santa Clara Valley Chapter MATHCOUNTS Competition, the only in-person math competition of its kind!
Miller Middle School won the first place of team, Hyde Middle School took the second place, The King's Academy got the third place, Stratford Preparatory Blackford Middle School placed the fourth place and Cupertino Middle School placed the fifth place.
Eric Shu from Hyde Middle School won the first place of individual. Ethan Wu from Miller Middle School took the second place. Daniel Li from Lawson Middle School got the third place.
In the afternoon, up to 4 students from each school entered the unofficial countdown round. In front of more than 800 audience , the fastest correct answer of a group of 8-9 was rewarded and advanced to the next round. When all rounds were completed, Joshua Wang from Hyde Middle School got the first place , Justin Kim of Miller Middle School got the second place and Charlie Huang from The King's Academy got the third place.
Based on the result from the Written Competitions, the top two teams, Miller Middle School and Hyde Middle School, and three individuals, Daniel LI from Lawson Middle School, Sunay Miduthuri from Helios School and Jingxuan Bo from Stratford Preparatory Blackford Middle School , got advanced to the State competition , which will be held at The Harker School Middle School Campus on Saturday, March 22, 2025.
