Fifth Annual Northwest Santa Clara Valley MATHCOUNTS Chapter Competition was a big success!
From across the Cupertino, Sunnyvale and West San Jose area, more than 13 private and public schools and 150+ middle school students came together and compete at Miller Middle School on Saturday , February 11th, 2023.
Miller Middle School won the first place of team. Lawson Middle School took the second place and the King's Academy got the third place.
Nathan Song of AccelPlus Homeschool won the first place of individual. Ayush Bansal of Hyde Middle School took the second place. Yuan Xing of Stratford Preparatory Blackford Middle got the third place.
In the afternoon, up to 4 students from each school entered the unofficial countdown round. In front of an audience of about 300, the fastest correct answer of a group of 5-6 was rewarded and advanced to the next round. When all rounds were completed, Rehan Babu of Kennedy Middle School got the first place and Anish Roy of Challenger Strawberry Park got the second place.
Top two teams, Miller Middle School and Lawson Middle School, and three individuals, Nathan Song of AccelPlus Homeschool, Ayush Bansal of Hyde Middle School, Yuan Xing of Stratford Preparatory Blackford Middle , got advanced to the State competition , which will be held at University of the Pacific, Stockton on Saturday, March 25, 2023.
