SIXTH Annual Northwest Santa Clara Valley MATHCOUNTS Chapter Competition was very successful!
From across the Cupertino, Sunnyvale and West San Jose area, 15 private and public schools and 160+ middle school students came together and compete at Cupertino Middle School on Saturday , February 10th, 2024, for the Northwest Santa Clara Valley Chapter MATHCOUNTS Competition, the only in-person math competition of its kind!
Hyde Middle School won the first place of team, Kennedy Middle School took the second place, Miller Middle School got the third place and Lawson Middle School placed the fourth place.
Sunay Miduthuri from Helios School won the first place of individual. Mihir Tomar from Hyde Middle School took the second place. Pranav Krishnapuram from Tessellations got the third place.
In the afternoon, up to 4 students from each school entered the unofficial countdown round. In front of more than 800 audience , the fastest correct answer of a group of 7-8 was rewarded and advanced to the next round. When all rounds were completed, Jason Yang of Lawson Middle School got the first place , Calvin Strohmann of Kennedy Middle School got the second place and Katherine Li from Kennedy Middle School got the third place.
Based on the result from the Written Competitions, the top two teams, Hyde Middle School and Kennedy Middle School, and three individuals, Sunay Miduthuri from Helios School, Pranav Krishnapuram from Tessellations, Wesley Shen from Miller , got advanced to the State competition , which will be held at The Harker School Middle School Campus on Saturday, March 23, 2024.
