Michael Smith

I am from a small town in Alabama called. Once I graduated from Pike County High School, I took a year off while completing my military training as a Avionics Communication Equipment in the Army Reserve. In the fall of 1994, I began to study History/English Education at the University of Alabama A&M in Normal, Alabama. During my studies, I became a Automated Logistical Specialist as well when my unit in Fort Rucker, Alabama downsized, I switched to the Alabama National Guard. I graduated from Alabama A&M University with a B.S. History/English Education and an Alpha Kappa Mu National Honor Society Member. I came to Gary, Indiana in March of 2001 teaching 7th and 8th grade Language Arts at Edison Middle School, marrying my wife, Shawna, and beginning a family of two girls, Mycah and Trinitee. Since then, I've taught language arts and social studies in grades 9 through 12. I've been teaching Government and Economics at Theodore Roosevelt College and Career Academy for the past 6 years to 11th grade students.
