2023 Student Ethics Essay Award (SEEA):

Award:

  • one student registration to the 2018 ASHA Convention (first place winner only);

  • monetary prizes ($750, $500, and $250 for first, second, and third place, respectively);

  • certificates of achievement;

  • a 1-year national NSSLHA membership;

Criteria:

  • enrolled in any undergraduate, post baccalaureate, or entry-level graduate program (U.S. only) in communication sciences and disorders (CSD), and enrolled part-time or full-time during the 2022–2023 academic year.

National NSSLHA Scholarships:

Award:

  • Six $1,000 scholarships for undergraduate juniors

  • Four $500 scholarships for undergraduate sophomores

Criteria:

  • Be an undergraduate student

  • Two brief essays (300 words or fewer, each)

  • A recommendation from an academic advisor or professor

AMBUCS Scholarships for Therapists:

Award: Varies

  • Min Award: $500.00

  • Max Award: $6,000.00

Criteria:

  • AMBUCS offers scholarships to students (U.S. citizens) in their junior/senior year in a bachelor’s degree, or a graduate program leading to a master’s or doctoral degree.

  • Students must be accepted in an accredited program by the appropriate health/therapy profession authority in physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech language pathology, and hearing audiology. 3.) Assistant programs are not eligible.

  • Awards are based on financial need, commitment to local community, demonstrated academic accomplishment, character for compassion and integrity, and career objectives.

TBA - CSHA Graduate Student Scholarship Awards:

Award: A check for $1,000 from the CSHA Foundation will be presented to the selected student scholar(s).

Criteria: Any student who is currently enrolled in an advanced degree program in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Communicative Disorders, or Audiology or will be enrolled at the time of the scholarship presentation (CSHA Annual Convention) is eligible to apply. If the student’s graduate studies are to be completed during the fall semester or winter quarter following the application submission, the student will still be eligible to apply.

Karlind T. Moller Cleft/Craniofacial Scholarship in Speech Pathology:

Award: $1,000

Criteria: Sponsored by the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association (ACPA), the Karlind T. Moller Cleft/Craniofacial Scholarship in Speech Pathology is designed to offer $1,000 to help current undergraduate or graduate students in accredited speech-language pathology programs nationwide fund their research projects involving patients with cleft palate or other craniofacial anomalies. Eligible projects include master’s thesis, doctoral dissertations, undergraduate research projects, clinical projects, or family support initiatives.

Lorraine T. Cole Minority Student Scholarship Fund:

Awards: $5,000

Criteria: Founded by a minority speech-language pathologist who felt an inherent responsibility to hold professional doors open for American Indian, Asian, African American, and Hispanic students, the Lorraine T. Cole Minority Student Scholarship Fund is sponsored by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) to provide $5,000 for racial/ethnic minority students. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, be accepted for accredited graduate studies in speech-language pathology, and demonstrate exceptional professional promise.

Frances J. Laven Scholarship:

Awards: $5,000

Criteria:

  • This award is intended for graduate students in a professional program (Master’s SLP, AuD, or SLP-D) who have shown exemplary service. Examples of service may include, but are not limited to, community service, service to the department or university, or service to the greater discipline.

  • Graduate students currently enrolled in a professional graduate program (Master’s SLP, AuD, or SLP-D) at a CAPCSD member institution with membership in good standing as of September 15.

Ph.D. Scholarship:

Awards: $20,000

Criteria:

  • At the time of the application, candidates must have successfully advanced to candidacy in a regionally accredited academic program, at a CAPCSD member institution with membership in good standing as of September 15, 2017.

  • Member institutions can nominate only one scholarship application. Those with multiple potential applicants may devise their own internal review process for the selection of one applicant. The selected candidate can submit his or her own application.

Plural Publishing Research Awards

Award: $3,000

Criteria:

  • Graduate students who are currently enrolled in a graduate program at a CAPCSD member institution

Sertoma Communicative Disorders Scholarship Program

Award: $1,000 scholarship to cover tuition, books and supplies

Criteria:

  • Must be a citizen of the United States of America.

  • Must be accepted into a graduate level program in speech language pathology and/or audiology at a college or university in the United States, accredited by ASHA’s Council on Academic Accreditation.

  • Must have a minimum cumulative 3.2 on a 4.0 scale for all undergraduate and graduate level course work.

  • Must submit application and all required materials in single envelope by deadline date.

National Hispanic Scholarship Fund

Award: $1,000 to $5,000.

Criteria:

  • Be of Hispanic heritage

  • Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident with a permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 (not expired)

  • Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

  • Have plans to enroll FULL-TIME in a degree seeking program at a two or four year U.S. accredited institution in the U.S., Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands or Guam

  • Must apply for federal financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

  • Be pursuing first undergraduate or graduate degree

McLaren-Flint Speech Language Pathologist Scholarship

Award: $6,000

Criteria:

  • Graduate students currently admitted to an accredited U.S. Masters in Speech-Language Pathology program.

  • Eligible candidates must maintain an overall GPA of 3.0 for satisfactory degree progress.

  • Commit to a year of employment with McLaren-Flint post-licensure for each year of funding

Cumberland Bilingual Spanish Speech Scholarship

Award: $2,500

Criteria: Graduate student enrolled in an accredited master’s program in speech-language pathology. Applicants must be fluent in both English and Spanish, have experience working in programs for Spanish-speaking children, and intend to pursue a career providing Spanish speech therapy.
