Welcome to the Caucus

"Northeastern Students of Color hereby affirm and celebrate the establishment of the Northeastern Student of Color Caucus (NSCC), referred to hereafter as “the Caucus”, in order to refine, remodel, or eliminate attitudes, experiences, policies, procedures, and other relevant domains of university life at Northeastern University that negatively impact our community, the communities of which we are comprised, and the communities with which members of the overall Northeastern community regularly engage." - NSCC Constitution

Who We Are

The Student of Color Caucus is a collection of Northeastern's individual students of color and the organizations that represent us on campus. Together, we all work towards developing shared goals and reasonable metrics that will hold the University accountable in matters related to diversity and inclusion initiatives on campus. We aim at achieving our collective liberation through sparking both vertical and horizontal communication on issues related to racial injustice in higher education, starting #HereAtNU.

Town Hall Meetings are the Caucus Communities' most basic mechanism for sparking conversation and collaboration on our collective liberation. Hosted once monthly by the Secretariat on behalf of the General Assembly, they are a perfect opportunity for Caucus Members and non-members alike to voice their comments, questions, and concerns directly to the Secretariat and hear first-hand updates on the Caucus's most exciting initiatives. They may also serve as a joint meeting for the General Assembly and the Coalition for Northeastern Student Organizations of Color.

The General Assembly represents individual students of color. Assembly Members populate our Caucus Committees, propose and vote on Resolutions, and determine who leads the Secretariat.

The Coalition for Northeastern Student Organizations of Color (CNSOC) is comprised of leading student organizations geared towards students of color and their communities. CNSOC Member Organizations may join our Caucus Committees, propose and vote on Resolutions, and they also confirm appointed Chief Officer positions.

To learn more about joining the CNSOC you may contact our Secretary-General at secgen.nscc@gmail.com or fill out this form.

Caucus Committees propose Resolutions to the General Assembly & Coalition for Northeastern Student Organizations of Color for voting. They may also take action through something called a Motion to Act. These Motions to Act are internal Caucus documents that authorize a member to take action on behalf of the Caucus, and they are approved by the Secretariat.
