The NPAA offers soccer to students in grades 4K through 5th grade. We partner with some other area soccer organizations to provide playing opportunities for our 6th-8th graders who wish to continue playing. The number of teams offered at each level depends on the number of registrations we receive. Each year it looks a little different, but we are committed to offering every athlete an opportunity to play soccer during the fall and summer seasons. The league focuses on developing the fundamentals necessary to succeed on the field. Please click on the LEAGUES sub-page for more information specific to each league.
Start Date
Registration for soccer in the spring soccer starts the beginning of January through the beginning of February. The season begins around the middle of March and finishes up in mid-May.
Practices for all leagues will start, weather permitting late March. Most teams will practice one night a week and play a game either Friday night (Pee Wee) or Saturday morning depending on league.
Registration for fall soccer runs through the month of July. The season begins around the end of August and finishes in October. Practices can start in the beginning of August.
The day and time of practice is dictated by the team's coach. Once the teams are created and we have a coach for each team, the coaches will contact the parents to set up the practice days and times. Some of the older teams may add a second night of practice depending on the availability of the coaches and players. Games will start mid April and end the last week of May.
The Pee-Wee Level games are played on Friday evenings and the upper level games are played Saturday mornings. The younger teams will play between 6-8 games while the older teams will typically play 10-12 games.
What fields are used?
The Pee-Wee and Level I leagues travel between North Prairie, Palmyra, and Eagle. The upper level leagues are played in North Prairie, Eagle, Palmyra, Mukwonago, and Vernon. Home games in North Prairie are played at the Broadlands Complex. Take a look at the Playing Fields page for maps to the fields.
Equipment
For soccer all coaches are provided necessary game and practice equipment such as balls, goalie jerseys and gloves, and other game play equipment. Each child will need a jersey that can be reused for subsequent seasons.
Parents are responsible for providing shin guards, cleats and soccer socks for participating players.
How do I request my child be placed with a friend or certain coach?
See the registration form. We will do our best to honor ONE friend request per athlete. This request must be reciprocal (if Sarah writes down Jessica then Jessica should also have written down Sarah). We cannot guarantee that everyone will get to be on the same team as all of their friends. Teams will be created based on number of athletes registered, available coaches, and an attempt will be made to create an even split of skill and grade level representation across the program. We want to keep friends and teams together, but we also do not want to create "super teams". We cannot honor coach requests. If you are willing to coach, then your athlete is guaranteed one friend request.
How are teams built?
At the lower levels, we will do our best to spread the teams out evenly. It is our goal at the PeeWee level to have 1/2 of the team made up of 4K students and 1/2 of the team made up of 5K students. At the 1st-2nd grade level, we would like 1/2 to be first graders and 1/2 to be second graders with emphasis on equal number of boys and girls on each team as well. At the 3rd-5th grade level, we would like 1/3 of the team to be made up of 3rd graders, 1/3 of fourth graders, and 1/3 of fifth graders. This will depend on the number of athletes from each grade that register. We are trying to not have any "super teams" comprised of all 5th graders. This will allow us to become better teammates, meet more people, and develop skills and leadership qualities that may not otherwise come out.
