Baseball / Softball Leagues

The baseball season begins in May and runs through the middle of July. Each league consists of one practice per week and at least one game. The older leagues will have two games scheduled per week most of the time. Times of practices and games vary based on the league and team the player is one. The following leagues are offered for athletes interested in participating in NPAA Baseball / Softball. Athletes should register for the league based on the grade they are currently in. For example, if an athlete is finishing 2nd grade in the spring, he / she should register for the 1st & 2nd league. If you would like to discuss playing in a different leveled league based on family / athlete needs, please contact the baseball coordinator to discuss.

T-Ball     |     Co-Ed Baseball for Pre-K through 5K

Will play around 6 games starting on or around June 1st on Wednesday evenings w/ "practice" on Monday evenings.

T-Ball is an instructional league designed to introduce young athletes to the basic skills used in both baseball and softball. This is open to children finishing up 3K, 4K, and 5K. Students finishing 5K have the option to sign up for Coach Pitch if they are ready! Practices and games will focus on proper swinging, fielding, and throwing techniques. Your athlete does not need to have any prior experience to have fun and enjoy T-Ball through the NPAA. There are no "outs" or "runs" recorded in T-Ball as every player will have an opportunity to hit and score each inning. As each team bats through the lineup, the teams rotate to the outfield / hitting positions. Games are structured to help athletes begin to learn how to successfully run the bases, field ground balls, communicate with their teammates, and have fun while playing baseball. Practices will be held on Monday evenings and games will be held on Wednesday evenings. Games last one hour or 4 innings, whichever comes first. Teams will have around 6 athletes to make sure each athlete gets a chance to play the different infield positions and get multiple at-bats each game!

Registration fee: $55 includes jersey - New Hat $15 (can reuse hat from year to year - All Red w/ White NP Lettering)

Coach-Pitch    |    Co-Ed Baseball for 5K, 1st & 2nd Grade

Will play around 6 games starting on or around June 1st on Thursday evenings w/ "practice" on Tuesday evenings.

Coach-Pitch is an instructional league designed to bring students into the next level of both baseball and softball. This is open to students who are finishing 5K (if they are ready for the next level of baseball up from T-Ball), 1st Grade, and 2nd grade. Practices will focus on proper hitting, fielding, and throwing techniques while also introducing some situational strategy. Your athlete does not need to have any prior experience to have fun and enjoy coach-pitch. During games, each coach pitches to his / her team. Each athlete gets 5 pitches to swing at. If the athlete does not hit any of those pitches, a Tee is brought in and the athlete hits off of the tee. When the ball is put in play, the opposing team attempts to get the runner out. This is the first time "outs" are introduced, so athletes sometimes have a difficult time with this concept. Outs are made through normal baseball / softball rules. Innings rotate after either 3 outs or 6 runs scored by the offensive team. Games last one hour or 6 innings, whichever comes first. Teams will consist of around 10 players as each position on the field will be manned. Practices are held on Tuesday evenings with games on Thursday evenings.

Registration fee: $55 includes jersey - New Hat $15 (can reuse hat from year to year - All Red w/ White NP Lettering)

We will be using a real baseball and bats are limited to a barrel of 2 1/4 in. Teams will field a full defensive unit with athletes doing both the pitching and the catching. There is no bunting allowed in this league but batters will be allowed to walk. Pitchers are limited to 2 innings pitched per game. There is NO WALKS in this league. After 4 balls, the coach of the hitting team enters to pitch until either the ball is put in play or the batter strikes out. This will speed up the pace of play. Each team will provide a continuous batting order along with free substitution in the outfield. High School Rules will govern the rest of game play. There is a time limit of 1 hour and 45 minutes or 6 innings for each game. There is a time limit of 1 hour and 45 minutes or 6 innings for each game.
