Our Story

There was once a dream… That humanity looked up into the stars and wondered, are we alone? What is out there? Can we find a new home? The answer came, but we lost sight of that ambition. We forgot the nature of our resolve: To Explore, To Discover, To Find Home. That’s how it all began.

The year is 2948, gone are the days of endless exploration, the UEE has expanded and stagnated time and again. Many civilians within the UEE have grown disillusioned with the government’s ability to both care for and inspire them.

Thus, an idea was formed deep in the chambers of the UEE Senate, only spoken about in hushed whispers. “What if the empire brought humankind back to its roots?” Finally, a lone Senator was brave enough to say what everyone else was thinking. “The empire needs to grow again, we can’t allow ourselves to succumb to stagnation lest we end up like the earth rulers of old!” After much deliberation in a closed-door Senate committee, it was there, on the political battlefield that the Avalon Initiative was born. What was discussed remains a mystery to many, but one thing became clear. Who we are.

The Avalon Initiative is a UEE program to establish a thriving outpost at the very edge of UEE space. Why? To prove that it can be done. We are here to bring humankind back to its roots. To Explore, Protect, and Inspire. To bring the promise and inspiration of home to the furthest reaches of space.

Late in 2948, the senate committee convened once more and selected the individual who would be responsible for bringing Avalon to the UEE. Not yet enjoying an official sanction, the Commander was limited to recruiting a core group of individuals who believed enough in bringing the promise of Avalon to the frontier.

In 2949, the Avalon Initiative was granted an official sanction from the UEE. Its Mission: Locate, Settle, and Develop a highly defendable, self-sustainable, and strategically located outpost in the furthest reaches of UEE space from which expeditions of a scientific, military, and economic nature can begin. Not wasting any time, the Initiative got to work.

The Stanton system was chosen as the Initiatives base of operations for phase 1 testing due to its diverse planets and the large number of independent individuals it houses. In early 2950, the first expedition of phase 1 testing began on the planet of MicroTech where the Initiative tested the first iteration of its Outpost Identification, Survey, and Reconnaissance process.

The year is now 2952, the Avalon Initiative is confident that phase 1 testing has been a success and plans to proceed to the more dangerous phase 2 later this year in the Pyro system...

The UEES Avalon

Make and Manufacturer: Carrack; Anvil Aerospace (ANVL) Role: Expedition Size: Large Complementary vehicles: C8 Pisces, Ursa

First commissioned for the Chronos Initiative in 2863 CE, the UEES Avalon is an Anvil Carrack military-classed pathfinder and was tasked with mapping out the newly discovered system as part of the UEE Navy’s 18th Battle Fleet. The vessel underwent a successful nine year operation under Captain Percival J. Calvestus and his crew, who’s objective was later declassified as “Project Archangel” by Imperator Corbyn Salehi in 2872 CE. Highly regarded as “humanity’s greatest achievement”, the outcome of this initiative saw the Avalon and its crew as highly decorated and recognized for helping create and sustain a foothold for the UEE in the Chronos System. After an official “mission complete”, the Avalon was ordered to return to the Kellog System as its final MO…

The fate of the crew is still unknown to this day, but what is known is the Avalon and its crew would not rendezvous with the rest of the fleet. A rescue and recovery mission was initiated in an attempt to locate the missing ship but to no avail the Avalon would remain lost to the relentless passage of time and space for seventy-three years.

According to an official report provided by two F7C-S pilots patrolling the outskirts of planet Schwester, the Avalon was rediscovered in a frozen derelict status without its crew. Due to the ship’s role during the Chronos Initiative, the Avalon was initially ordered to be investigated and scrapped at the UEE Navy’s MacArthur Shipyards within the Killian System. In an odd turn of fate, the attack on Vega II on November 10th 2945 CE by the Vanduul officially began the Vanduul War, which spared the historic ship from being melted down. UEE naval and government officials thought it more cost effective to have the ship restored and repurposed to combat the encroaching Vanduul threat.

Retrofitted and updated to modern standards, the Avalon was once again ready for active duty among the stars. In an attempt to find a captain and crew to stock the ship to maximum efficiency, the rapid recruitment and resurgence of war left the ship empty as many leaving the academy had aspired to be on ships with non-controversial histories as the Avalon.

It would not be not until the mid-months of 2948 CE that the UEES Avalon was officially reassigned to a prospective new captain and great-grandson to the late Percival J. Calvestus, Jericho P. Calvestus. Coming from a political and military legacy as well as reaching top marks within the navy in his early years, Captain Calvestus was entrusted with the UEES Avalon to embark on a new initiative. The Avalon Initiative.

The year is now 2952. Jericho Calvestus, now Commander, now leads a UEE sponsored operation to extend the reaches of the United Earth Empire whose initiative has surpassed the boundaries of a single ship but instead has broadened its focus to explore new worlds, protect its interests, and inspire more to join its cause.

Today, the UEES Avalon serves as the symbolic and perpetual flagship of the Avalon Initiative and is headed by Commander Jericho P. Calvestus and its crew. The legacy lives on…
