AGM 2026

Hi everyone,

The NKC AGM will be on Weds 4th Nov, 7.30pm at the Club.

This will be an opportunity to celebrate the achievements over the last year and to talk about what we want the priorities to be for the year ahead.  For instance, one priority is to ensure that Club sessions are planned, to ensure that paddlers can progress at all stages, from Beginner to Div 1 level.

We can also talk about what the Committee has been doing, in light of the latest Nottingham Forest planning application to expand the Brian Clough stand.

Paddle UK are bringing in stricter Deployment Rules for clubs from 1st Jan 2027.  To ensure we can still operate in the same way as we do now, the Committee has developed the 3 documents attached, which we will give an overview of at the AGM.  

The General NKC Risk Assessment is a long document that outlines all the obvious risks and how we mitigate them.  The Safety Guidance & New Deployment Rules documents are 1-pagers which we still put up on the noticeboard, A3 size.  They outline the NKC Club guidance on different river levels/conditions and the  difference between 'Club sessions' and 'Peer paddles'.  The emphasis is on paddlers always doing their own personal risk assessment, before they paddle. One key thing is that if you go out on a Peer paddle, you are not covered by the Club insurance, so need to get Paddle UK, On-the-Water Membership.
