Snoring is a condition that affects approximately 90 million US adults. NED is a nasal insert that reduces snoring by altering exhalation and inhalation pressures. Our client's company is finding their niche in the Anti-Snoring Device market by addressing the common complaint with most over the counter anti-snoring devices is that the wearer feels that their inhalation is restricted and that the devices cause discomfort. Their understanding of respiratory mechanics places the NED team in a very good position to be able to compete in a multi-billion dollar industry.
NED stands for Nasal EPAP Dilation Device (shown below) and is to be worn in both nostrils while the individual is sleeping. Snoring is reduced with this device due to the its innovative design of utilizing restrictive air flow mechanics. There is a flap located in the middle of the device that generates a back pressure in the sinus region during exhalation. This design also promotes more comfortable inhalation by dilating the nostril. These designs allow for more airflow while sleeping and thus reduces the major causes of snoring.
The team intends to compete in this market by making it available to local pharmacies and then expanding based on success and demand. They have developed a sizing chart by creating a range of holes based on the size of right index fingers so that customers can size themselves and purchase the proper sized device. The material of the NED is also flexible in order to accommodate comfort and has a flat side in order to comfortably rest against the septum. The team is very excited as they enter beta testing and are hoping to get this device to market soon!
