Leadership and Supervision: The Cadet Chief of Staff is responsible for overseeing the performance and conduct of the cadet staff. This includes ensuring that all cadets adhere to the program's standards and regulations.
Coordination and Communication: This role involves coordinating with various departments within the unit to ensure that all activities and events are well-organized and executed. Effective communication with the CO, XO, and other staff members is crucial.
Training and Development: The Cadet Chief of Staff plays a significant role in the training and development of cadets. This includes organizing training sessions, drills, and other activities that help cadets develop their skills and knowledge.
Administrative Duties: This role also involves handling various administrative tasks, such as maintaining records, preparing reports, and ensuring that all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.

Operations and Public Affairs Officer:
The Unit Operations and Public Affairs Officer in the NNDCC program has a multifaceted role that involves both operational management and public relations. Here are some of the key duties:
OPS
The Operations Officer (OPSO) in the NNDCC program plays a crucial role in planning, scheduling, and coordinating all unit activities and events. Here are some of the key duties:
The OPSO supports the Commanding Officer (CO) and Executive Officer (XO) in all respects. The primary duty is to ensure that all unit activities happen according to plan. This includes maintaining the unit's master schedule and the Two-Month Plan of the Week. The OPSO assists the Senior Naval Science Instructor (SNSI) and Naval Science Instructor (NSI) in planning for field trips and other unit events. They also coordinate community service projects and events, maintaining records of the events the unit participated in during the school year, including the number of cadets who participated and community service hours.
Additionally, the OPSO is responsible for obtaining and coordinating all necessary information for permission slips and participation rosters, submitting them to the SNSI via the chain of command at least one week before every event. They also ensure that all events are properly documented and that historical files of event information are maintained for future planning.
PUBLIC AFFAIRS
The Public Affairs Officer (PAO) is responsible for assisting with all public relations and publicity matters affecting the unit. This includes preparing and submitting press releases and articles to the Senior Naval Science Instructor (SNSI) for approval and then to appropriate news media. The PAO ensures that NNDCC activities such as annual inspections, competitions, field meets, drill meets, Change of Command, fundraisers, social events, and projects receive appropriate publicity.
Additionally, the PAO establishes a system to maintain positive contact with each NNDCC group likely to have newsworthy activities and communicates with parents through newsletters, newspapers, or web pages published at least once per school quarter. They maintain comprehensive files for PAO-related material, including NNDCC news releases, copies of all news mentioning NNDCC, newsletters, photographs of activities, and a unit history that presents a clear picture of the year's activities.
The PAO also works with the yearbook staff to ensure that NNDCC pages in the yearbook properly reflect the activities of the cadets and supports fund-raising activities sponsored by the unit. They assist the SNSI in maintaining the unit's web home page and maintain a point of contact listing for all local news media.
These duties are essential for maintaining the efficiency and effectiveness of the NNDCC unit, and the Unit Operations and Public Affairs Officer plays a vital role in achieving the program's objectives.

Supply and Armory Officer:
Supply
The Supply and Armory Officer in the NNDCC program has a critical role in managing the unit's supplies and equipment. This position involves a range of responsibilities to ensure that all materials are properly accounted for and maintained. Here are some of the key duties:
The Supply Officer (SUPPO) is responsible for the requisitioning, receiving, issuing, accounting, storage, and security of all items of uniform clothing, textbooks, training aids, and other materials placed in the NNDCC storage room and supply room. Under the direction of the Chief of Staff (CoS), the SUPPO ensures that an accurate record of all uniforms issued to each Cadet is maintained and that the supply storeroom is kept clean and neat at all times. They also utilize all assigned personnel to issue and turn in uniforms and equipment, informing the Naval Science Instructor (NSI) of items that need to be ordered due to high usage or short supply.
Additionally, the SUPPO is responsible for conducting accurate wall-to-wall inventories when required and assisting with the receipt, storage, issue, and inventory management of Navy uniforms and equipment. They train, direct, and supervise supply room personnel in the performance of supply functions and select and train a Storekeeper Petty Officer in each class. The SUPPO also maintains an accurate record of supply inventory and cadet uniform issue and return in the CDMIS database.
Armory
The Armory Officer in the NNDCC program has a critical role in managing and maintaining the unit's weapons and related equipment. Here are some of the key duties:
The Armory Officer, often referred to as the "Gun Boss," is responsible for ensuring the proper care and maintenance of the exhibition drill rifles and swords. This includes taking inventory of the weapons, such as rifles, swords, sword belts, and harnesses, on a weekly basis. The Armory Officer ensures that all weapons are stored securely and are in good working condition, ready for use during drills and ceremonies.
Additionally, the Armory Officer is tasked with overseeing the issuance and return of weapons and related equipment to Cadets. They maintain accurate records of all issued items and ensure that Cadets are properly trained in the safe handling and use of the weapons. The Armory Officer also coordinates with the Supply Officer to ensure that any necessary repairs or replacements are made promptly.
These duties are essential for maintaining the efficiency and effectiveness of the NNDCC unit, and the Supply and Armory Officer plays a vital role in achieving the program's objectives.

This includes planning and coordinating training sessions, drills, and other activities that help cadets develop their skills and knowledge. The Training Officer ensures that all training materials and resources are available and that cadets are properly prepared for inspections and competitions.
Additionally, the Training Officer works closely with the Executive Officer (XO) to ensure that the training program aligns with the unit's goals and objectives. They also monitor the progress of Cadets and provide feedback to help them improve their performance.
