Traffic stops are one of the most common police interactions and must be handled professionally, safely, and by the book every time.
Whether it’s for speeding, suspicious behavior, or a BOLO (Be On the Lookout), your goal is to:
Keep the public safe
Uphold law and order
Gather intel or make lawful arrests
1 - Radio It In
Use your comms:
“Badge number [___] ,conducting a traffic stop, red Sultan, Occupation Ave, 1 occupant.”
Include location and plate if visible.
2 - Approach with Caution
Turn off your sirens (use lights).
Walk behind the B-pillar (middle of car) to reduce risk.
Always assume unknown risk.
3 - Initial Interaction
Greet the driver, state reason:
“Good evening, I stopped you for running that red light back there.”
Ask for license and registration (RP as needed).
Observe surroundings — passengers, weapons, smells, nervous behavior.
4 - Run Their Info
Use the police tablet to check for:
Warrants
License status
Prior offenses
Vehicle registration
5. Determine Action
Ticket / Verbal Warning / Arrest / Vehicle Search (with cause)
Make sure it’s proportional and justified in RP.
Officers can search vehicles using the in-city "Open Trunk" option — but RP must always support the action. You must have:
Probable Cause (e.g., visible weapon, smell of drugs)
Consent from the vehicle owner/driver
Incident to a Lawful Arrest
Example RP flow:
"/me opens the trunk carefully, inspecting for any illegal items or suspicious packages."
Â
Then use the Open Trunk option in-game.
Once the trunk is open and a search is justified, use the in-game inventory system to physically check and remove items. Always inform the suspect of what you're doing and what you find.
❗ If you find something illegal, use /me  or voice to describe it:
Vehicle searches must have proper RP justification. You cannot search a car:
Just because someone is a known criminal
Without any observed reason or roleplay
To “see what they have” out of curiosity
If a search leads to a seizure or arrest, log:
Officer name
Vehicle description & plate
Reason for search
Items found and actions taken
