Nordic days

Nordic days are a celebration when a school has visitors, teachers from another Nordic countries.

Aims:

The main goals for Nordic days are that students can learn about other Nordic counties from their inhabitants.

Promote the Nordic culture and language.

To help students get more curious about the Nordic countries and traditions.

Main activities:

  • The school, or at least the library is decorated with the Nordic flags and welcome the guests with their language.

  • The guests read a book from the country that is promoting the Nordic days. The book has to be translated to the other Nordic languages. The teachers choose a text in the book that they can read in 2-3 minutes. All the teachers are lined up and read the same text in their language.

  • The guests promote their countries with a slide show. They can use their own language or use English and a teacher at the school translates.

  • The guest bring an item from home to show and donate to the visiting school.

Variations:

  • The schools that are promoting the Nordic days can also chose extra activities to celebrate it.
