Cassey Koid, MD

Pediatric Emergency Medicine

About Me: My name is Cassey Koid and I am a 3rd culture kid that was born in Malaysia and have lived in 9 countries (Australia, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Myanmar, USA, Denmark, Canada, and Ireland). As recent transplant to Nola since July 2023 from Seattle after completing my fellowship and MPH, I am so grateful for the friendly community who have helped me feel so settled at work and out of work.

Medical Degree: Trinity College Dublin, Ireland

Residency: Pediatrics, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai – Elmhurst Hospital Center

Fellowship: Pediatric Emergency Medicine, Seattle Children’s Hospital/University of Washington

Interests: As a lifelong globe trotter, exploring new places and food is very important to me. I have a 6-year-old easily excitable and slightly anxious Mini Aussie-Chihuahua ironically named Zen. I scuba dive and am a recent pickle ball enthusiast.

My academic interests include assessing the relationship between race, ethnicity and language disparities (REaL) and quality of care outcomes, patient care in the ED, and discordant triage, toxicology, medical education, simulation, and use of virtual reality goggles in the ED for pain and procedural distraction.

I’ve navigated the J1 visa/J1 waiver process, happy to share my experiences with anyone needing help.

Fun Fact: Although I have a driver’s license, I do not own a car nor drive here in New Orleans.

Top 3 Strengths: Glamour shots of food for instagram, wrestling my dog into costumes, and friendships/inclusivity
