Syntax Beyond the Canon

(Scientific Network funded by the German Research Foundation [DFG])

Welcome to the official website of the scientific network 'Syntax Beyond the Canon: Cutting-edge Studies of Non-Canonical Syntax in English'! This network is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG, 419901034) and seeks to uncover how, when, and why we say sentences such as 'Syntax I love!' rather than 'I love syntax!'. We are interested in the structure of English sentences and what motivates people to opt for 'unusual' options instead of regular patterns.

In order to get an idea of what we are trying to achieve in the network, please read the overview in 'What Is It About?' and get to know the network's members and guests in the section on 'Members'. You may also read summaries of the network's 'Network Meetings' and look up network-related 'Publications'.

For any questions regarding the network, feel free to contact the network's organisers Teresa Pham (teresa.pham@uni-vechta.de) and Sven Leuckert (sven.leuckert@tu-dresden.de).
