709 Flood St.

District: Holy Cross - Full Control

Owner: William A Ziegler

HDLC Staff: Krista J. Guzzo

Rating: Contributing

Applicant: Jeffrey David Cantin

Permit #: 23-24162-HDLC

Description: Installation of highly visible roof-mounted solar equipment at right-side roof slope of a Contributing rated, one-story, single-family residential building.

Staff Recommendations: Staff has attempted to work with the solar company to arrive upon an alternative layout so that the panels would not be highly visible, but the company is not amenable to altering the proposed panel layout, as the right side of the house is South facing and receives more sunlight.  Due to the open space to the right of the house, the solar panels on that side would be highly visible from the public right-of-way.  The solar panels, as proposed, do meet the HDLC Guidelines. As such, Staff recommends no objection to the layout as proposed; however, as the building is Contributing rated and there are other more appropriate locations for the panels, Staff would prefer that the panels on the primary, right-hand roof slope be installed at other locations.
