1517 General Ogden St.

Description: Demolition of more than 50% of the roof at a Contributing rated, one-story, single-family residential building. 

Staff Recommendations: 

FEMA research dates the construction from 1895-1905. However, 1517 General Ogden doesn't show up on the Fire Insurance Maps until 1909. The original single shotgun appeared to have a rear shed roof portion with a separate accessory building. During the 20th century a series of additions were completed to connect the rear shed roof addition to the accessory structure with varied roof structures. The proposed camelback addition would remove all of the non-contributing additions in order to bring this building back into commerce. 

In full control historic districts camelbacks are approved as long as they're set two rooms back. This camelback addition is presumptively 4 rooms back and is removing the non-contributing portions of the building. For these reasons, Staff recommends the approval of more than 50% of the roof.
