Person from nearby business wanted a custom visor prop for their 1950's pick-up truck. The visor came with stamped steel adjustable brackets and he didn't like the look of them.
I took some measurements and created a solid model. I 3D printed a prototype and checked for fitment. I adjusted the mounting holes and finalized the model. Worked out the fixturing and split the machining operations into two sides. Dowel pins located the material between flips. Parts were powder coated to match exterior of truck.
Contrasting additive prototype to subtractive production.
Surface flow toolpath for half of part.
