This problem compares differing reaction systems, or more specifically, knowledge of reaction systems, and determines the best reactor block to use in ASPEN to model the system behavior. There are seven reactor blocks that can be utilized in ASPEN: RStoic, REquil, RYield, RGibbs, RPlug, RCSTR, and RBatch. Each reactor has ideal circumstances to be used in. This problem considers the following sets of circumstances:
You know the reaction equation, but not its kinetics.
You know the chemicals inside a reactor, but no reaction kinetics or stoichiometry.
You know that there are vapor and liquid products in equilibrium.
You know the chemicals inside a reactor and the yield of its products, but no kinetics.
You know all kinetic and stoichiometric data, as well as the CSTR’s dimensions.
