Do Herbalists Need Certification?
Herbalism is not recognized as a healthcare modality in Kentucky or nationwide, leading to no state or national licensing for herbal practitioners. The American Herbalists Guild and other third-party accreditation agencies offer membership-based accreditation. In the United States, there is not a federally recognized, licensed path for becoming a certified herbalist.
Refund Policy
Membership fees and course/class donation fees are non-refundable due to being donation-based. However, conflicts will be addressed to the best of our ability. '
All digital content is not refundable.
Certificates and Certification
Upon successful completion of a course/class, students will receive a certificate of completion, &/or a diploma of completion, community members will receive a certificate of participation. Eligibility for a certification exam by a third-party agency may be possible after completing a course with extra learning/exam, determined solely by the third-party agency.
Scholarships
Two scholarships are awarded annually in December for NHMEC courses only. This is TBD each year.

Course Completion Timeline
UPDATE! As of December 2026 you can purchase a continual membership for life. Students have 2 years to finish a course and 3-6 months (depending on the course) to complete a course. However, it depends upon the degree of certification status one is wishing to obtain.

NHMEC aims to enhance self-knowledge and is suitable for career development, homeschoolers, adult beginners, and the general public. The Community Classes cater towards the general public at a beginner level learners. The Classes cater to beginners to intermediate learners. The courses cater to advanced learners; refer to each course description for details. Make sure you read the description of each course.
Community Members vs Student Membership (as of December 2026 the CONTINUAL MEMBERSHIP for Life will be an option)
Community Membership is a yearly membership that contains monthly mini classes, monthly meet ups, monthly challenges, monthly magazine, and monthly herb + chat herbal discussions, recipes, PDFs of resources to download, certificate of participation, iHUB app community, general public to beginner level learner where as the Student Membership has all of those things but you receive certificate or completion, along with other live and video trainings, along with the choice of classes, and programs of courses. Intermediate to Professional level of learner seeking an accredited training provider.
