Reception
The fluidity of water describes our emotions. The turbulent sea has inspired many poets; water is, in fact, the element of the poet. The surface of the sea erupts into waves that can be gentle and slow or unpredictable and life-threatening. Deeper than the surface of the sea are quiet calm and a plethora of interesting, colorful life-forms.
Water represents the subconscious mind. Comparing the human mind to the sea, that world in the deep waters is our subconscious, filled with creatures we can only glimpse briefly. The imagery of the subconscious is likened to the imagery of the poet, with symbols holding deeper meanings that effect us on an emotional level.
Water is the element of emotion, intuition, and personal discovery.
It can suddenly shower us with an outburst of cleansing emotions or the replenishing power of self-nurturance. It can clean out and create a thirst for new adventures in self-exploration.
Water is also the element of healing counsel, emotional release, unconditional love, positive self-regard, and of pure emotional understanding. It forces us to face our personal realities...to reveal our inner being, even if we only reveal them to ourselves.
It is also known as an element of dreams, it is the shape shifter that reflects our inner feelings. Essentially it is the mist, the fog, the storm that leads us to the place where we may meet our Selves.
Water people are in tune with the rhythms of the sea and the flow of the rivers. They don't want build to same thing over and over - they must constantly create from their own vivid imaginations. They are not interested in whatever gain or fame their creations might bring them - they live for the joy of expression. They have no need to explain or rationalize their feelings. They would rather help you to feel them as deeply as they do, through melodious or colorful illustration.
Water people feel everything deeply. Some of us are more attuned with Water than others. The gift they have to give is a natural ability to understand and actually feel how others are feeling, and to provide sincere and healing comfort.
