To those who dwell in the Wilderness,
In recent history there was a pact between the Rangers, Geomancers, and my kin. This pact was strong and for the protection of the wilderness. Should any of the three come under threat, the others would come to their aid. However, as the threats passed this bond between paths weakened. It was a bond forged for battle and out of the need of bloodshed so as the need for such battle faded the threads of the bond slowly disappeared. Over time animosity grew between some members of our paths, and the pact was undone. While sad to be sure, this outcome could not be avoided due to the nature of the original pact.
Those of us that live in the wilderness have more in common than battle and foe, and this should have been recognized by all when the druids refused to join the pact. We all live where no others have the courage to even travel. We work and struggle to survive on a daily basis. These lands we call home are tough and brutal, we need no common enemy to forge or share bonds. Our land is enough. It is also beautiful and worth every moment we spend to make it home. Lately our lands and our homes have suffered though. A bit of this suffering has come from outside forces again, but that is not the prevailing cause of our homes issues. The forests are as beautiful as they are dangerous, the rivers as serene as deadly. This is all proper and only natural when we do not strive to change what nature has wrought. Most of us that call the wilderness home know of the balance that exists here, yet I think we have forgotten part of our own balance, part of our humanity.
I call to all those who live in the wilderness, Druid, Ranger, Geomancer, and unaffiliated dweller, it is time to forge a new pact, a new agreement, and a new promise. It is time to forge a Pact of Kinship and Community, and right the wrong that the failing pact has created.
This pact is not a pact meant for battle or political power. What our homes and hearts have need of now is not combat alliances, not protection from outside threat, but unity and kinship. It is my belief that all of us that dwell in the wilderness share a commonality. We are kin, plain and simple, and it is time that we acknowledged that by working together to make our wilderness family whole.
The Pact agreements:
= An agreement to monthly gatherings, where all wilderness path and dweller can meet, play, and eat. A gathering where each of our ways are represented, and our events can be shared with the community.
= An agreement to try and aid each other as well we can in day to day survival. No military expectations.
= A striving for interpath and dweller communication, so that we may all grow to understand and know each other better.
= An agreement to respect the ways of our paths, and never try to force each other to be what we are not.
= An agreement that no matter how developed our relationships become, the wilderness will be honored as the wild lands it is an not suffer the fate the lands of the Kingdoms have. This is not a pact to bring so called progress to the wilderness. Our home will be respected and let be just as our path cultures will.
