Open Badge as a tool to recognize competence

Open Badge basics

In the project NextSteps@TechVET we have decided to use Digital Open Badges for recognizing and demonstrating Learning Ambassadors and Workplace Instructors competence and skills. From this page you can find some basic information about Digital Open Badges. We have created a Test Badge as a starter for this theme.
Please follow the instructions which you can find at the end of this page and apply your first Badge.

The test open badge is a recognition of person's basic knowledge related to open badges.
Competence objective: A person - knows the open badge process.
Assessment criteria: A person - knows terminology, technical tools and usage of the open badge concept - creates the Open Badge Passport and uses it.
Skills demonstration instructions: Add the results of the test (link at the end of the page) to the application form. After creating the open badge passport add the link to your profile to the application form.

What is a Digital Open Badge?

A badge is traditionally seen as a symbol or indicator of an accomplishment, skill, quality or interest. Digital open badges are an online standard for recognising and verifying learning that complies with the Open Badges Specification. They allow recipients to use an image to quickly show off their skills and achievements.

About Open Badges

Badge-driven Learning

Open badges are a fantastic way to exhibit their achievements at a glance to establish credibility. Certificates are a more formal approach to credentials, featuring more face-value detail of the accomplishment. However, it is becoming more and more common for individuals to use badges across platforms as a visual snapshot of their achievement, then having the badge link back to the verified webpage that contains more information about the what achievement entails and how it was obtained.
