At Newmarket OSHC, we are deeply committed to creating a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment where every child feels valued and supported. Cultural safety is at the heart of what we do, and we proudly recognise, respect and celebrate the diverse identities of the children and families in our community.
The safety and wellbeing of children guide every decision we make. Our practices align with the Child Safe Standards, part of Queensland’s Child Safe Organisation system, ensuring we create environments where children are protected, heard and respected. Central to this is the Universal Principle, which upholds the right to cultural safety for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. We are committed to ensuring all children feel safe, welcome and a true sense of belonging.
Our educators build strong, trusting relationships with children and guide behaviour through kindness, respect and consistency. Through these positive interactions, children are supported to develop confidence, empathy and self-regulation, and to build meaningful, respectful relationships with others.
We use positive and supportive strategies to guide behaviour, always respecting each child’s dignity and rights. Practices that shame, isolate or harm children have no place in our service.
We believe that working in partnership with families is essential. By sharing knowledge, strategies and open communication, we can provide consistent support for children both at home and in our care. Where needed, we also collaborate with external professionals to ensure each child receives the support they need to thrive.
To further support families, we provide resources from the National Association for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (NAPCAN) and the Queensland Family and Child Commission, offering practical guidance on children’s safety, wellbeing and rights.
Together, through our shared commitment, we strive to create a community where every child feels safe, respected and empowered to grow, learn and flourish.
