Charter
The Board would like the Landscape and Forests Committee to identify maintenance and planning needs for Chatham Woods Common Elements and Limited Common Elements (front beds and front beds beside the garage) and to recommend policies, plans, and procedures to the Board and, as appropriate, for vote by CWHOA members.
Generally: consider and recommend landscaping and forestry maintenance procedures and development projects that will maintain and improve the appearance of the Chatham Woods neighborhood.
Recommend to the Board procedures (schedules, fertilizer types, pruning plans) and vendors to maintain CWHOA landscaping Common Elements and Limited Common Elements.
Develop plans for managing CWHOA Common Element forests, likely with professional assistance.
Recommend policies regarding landscaping of Common Elements and Limited Common Elements: standards for plantings, procedures for "upgrading" or replacing standard plantings, policies regarding the allocation of cost of replacing upgraded plantings, etc.
2023 Work Plan
January - March
Meet with Board to review LC plans for the year.
Review approved landscaping budget for 2023.
Work with VPM to schedule ash tree removal once Act 250 Permit is finalized.
Confirm 5 tree replacements on Ian Place with Teacher’s Tree Service and work with VPM to schedule replacements.
April - May
KT repairs lawn damage they are responsible for.
Order signage for trails (Insurance company requirement) and schedule installation
Spring walk around with Jake to identify and prioritize CW landscaping work for lawn repair and replacements
LC reviews quote for planned work to ensure replacements are within the planned 2023 Budget line items. Make adjustments and prioritize, if needed.
June - July - August
KT completes first trim of wood's edge
Monitor plant replacements by contractor
Monitor spending on landscaping and manage to budget
If needed, schedule Community 2-hour work day to trim saplings and phragmites around stormwater ponds and any invasives found.
September - October
Prep work for 2024 Budget cycle
KT does second trimming of wood's edge
VPM works on Tru-Green contract for 2023 Budget cycle
November
Submit 2024 Budget to Board
