For those owners who want to stain their rear steps or porch more frequently than the current Association schedule (3-year cycle) or need to touch up the paint on trim or doors, the following are the specifications for the stain and paint to be used. These specification were obtained from Champlain Painters (who have done the maintenance painting for a number of years) and PPG Paints, which supplies Champlain Painters.
The paint and stain used at Chatham Woods are available from PPG Paints, 60 San Remo Drive, South Burlington, VT; phone (802) 863-6387. Order colors under "Champlain Painting" for "Chatham Woods". Please call ahead to ensure that the paint/stain you want is in stock.
The paint products have evolved over the years, but as of 2021, the specifications for paint and stain for Chatham Woods buildings using the products currently available are:
Wood trim: PPG Sun Proof Exterior Latex Satin "New Herringbone"
Original rear stair & porch stain, Ian Place homes and 142-462 Michael Lane: TWP 101 Cedar Tone
Newer rear stair & porch stain, 470-562 Michael Lane: TWP 101 Dark Oak
Front door: PPG Sun Proof Exterior Latex "Chatham Woods Beige"
Garage door: PPG Sun Proof Exterior Latex Satin "New Herringbone"

Notes
Chatham Woods exterior trim was originally finished with Glidden Latex Fortis Satin 450 paint for top coats. The colors were developed to match the Norandex siding and trim colors. PPG bought the Glidden company in 2013 and subsequently replaced the Fortis line with the "Sun Proof Exterior Latex" product line. PPG matched the original "New Herringbone" color in the Fortis product to that new product line and continues to reference the color as PPG Sun Proof Exterior Latex Satin "New Herringbone".
Front doors and garage doors were originally "Satin Beige", but with the change from the Glidden Fortis product to the PPG Sun Proof line, PPG has matched the colors into the new product line and labeled it "Chatham Woods Beige" in their system.
The Developer originally used TWP 101 Cedar Tone on rear porch floors and stairs but switched to Dark Oak in later construction. Either is acceptable now.
