Jumpstart

Jumpstart is a game-mode that requires 0 deck construction or preparation. On reteki.fun, create a game and select 'Jumpstart' as the format. When you start the game, both players will receive an algorithmically-generated, never-before-seen deck. It is common practice to play your deck blind, only peeking at all of your cards once the game is over.

If you like scoring Mandatory Upgrades on a NeoTokyo Grid with a Red Herrings, while the runner tries to Keyhole you with Cyber-Cypher and Paintbrush, Jumpstart is for you!

Ok, but do the decks suck?

Obviously a Jumpstart deck is going to be worse than a deck that you built on purpose, but our algorithm is designed to make sure that every deck functions. Specifically every deck will meet certain minimum requirements of economy, ice-breaking ability, ice-types, multi-access etc.

Does the algorithm follow deckbuilding rules?

Yes and no. Decks will be the correct size and have the required number of agenda points, but they may bend the rules in small ways. You may get more than 1 copy of a limit 1 per deck card, you will sometimes violate influence rules, and you will on rare occasions get an out-of-faction agenda (just for fun)!

How does the faction/influence system work? Will my criminal deck be full of Professional Contacts?

When the jumpstart algorithm tries to add a card to a deck, it checks if the card is out of faction. If it is, then it has a high probability to 're-roll' that card into another one. The probability of re-rolling is higher if the card is higher influence. This means that getting a 1-influence Day Job in your Criminal deck is far more common than getting a 4 influence Account Siphon in your Shaper deck (although anything is possible, probability is a strange thing!)
