Dorms

Our building is Hickory Hall.  Attendees are assigned individual rooms within suites.  Suites in this residence hall offer shared kitchen, bathroom, and lounge in addition to bedrooms.  Your key will let you into the suite and into your bedroom.  You can indicate a gender preference  in your suitemates and name a specific colleague on the Registration website.  

Nearby Hotels

If you choose not to camp out in the dorms, there are several nearby hotels that may have availability.  Secure your room, then register with the Commuter option to remove the dorm from your registration.

Parking Info

Lot 12, which is immediately adjacent to our dorm, Hickory Hall.
If Lot 12 fills up we will use Lot 10, a 4 minute walk to Hickory Hall.

Please indicate on your Registration form any accommodation that would improve your experience of Boot Camp.

Buildings

Claire T. Carney Library
Topical lectures for community nursing and civil & environmental engineering, as well as the capstone, will take place in the Grand Reading Room of the Claire T. Carney Library.  The room is accessible by wheelchair.

SMAST: School of Marine Science & Technology
The fisheries oceanography topical lecture will take place on site at SMAST's East Seawater Lab in New Bedford.  We will be in classroom 101-103.    

All meals except dinner Thursday will take place in The Grove Dining Hall.  The Grove is wheelchair accessible.

Thursday dinner and the after-dinner presentation will take place in the Woodland Commons, within the residence quad of our dorm.  Woodland Commons is wheelchair accessible.

Our dorm is Hickory Hall, which is wheelchair accessible and has an elevator.

Parking

Vehicles with a disability license plate or placard can use any accessibility marked parking space on campus.

Lactation Rooms

The Claire T. Carney library has a lactation room.  It will be made available for attendees.  Details on gaining access will be shared in communications.

Wireless Access

UMass Dartmouth has both eduroam and a guest wireless network.  If your home institution uses eduroam, you should have access to the network with your regular credentials.

If you do not have an eduroam account, a guest account will be created for you.  Login and password information will be supplied to you as part of your campus packet.

Directions

By Car

UMass Dartmouth dormitories are in Google Maps, 'Hickory Hall' produces Hickory Hall, Dartmouth, MA 02747.  It will get you to Lot 12.  If Lot 12 is full, the overflow lot is #10.

There will be lawn signs once your reach campus directing you to Lot 12 as well.

By Bus

Southeastern Regional Transit Authority (SRTA) is the bus line that stops at UMass Dartmouth. It goes to and from Fall River and New Bedford. SRTA Bus: New Bedford & Fall River. 

By Plane

While the New Bedford Regional Airport is the closest option at a 15 minute drive, you may not be able to find a flight to such a small airport serving limited airlines.  The Rhode Island T. F. Green Regional Airport is somewhat larger, and about a 45 minute drive to UMass Dartmouth.  Logan International Airport in Boston is about an hour and 15 minutes' drive.

Meals are only covered as part of Boot Camp registration from Wednesday lunch through Friday lunch.  For those arriving Tuesday or staying in the area for the weekend, there are several chains just off campus on Route 6 or Faunce Corner Rd.  UMassD librarians have also shared a few local favorites:
