Students who wish to change their major to business must submit an application to the Neeley Academic Advising Center to be considered for admission.
NOTE: Your acceptance into the business program is primarily based upon the GPA you receive with TCU classes.
Admission is highly competitive, and space is limited. A student with a GPA of less than 3.25 is unlikely to be admitted. Internal transfer students who are accepted as a business student must meet all additional Neeley School admission requirements to be considered for advancement to upper-division business courses.
To apply to Business:
Minimum TCU GPA of 3.25
At least one semester completed at TCU (first-semester transfer students should contact the Neeley Advising Office for additional information)
Minimum GPA of 2.75 on any lower division business core classes you have already completed (ENGL 10803, ECON 10223, ECON 10233, MATH 10283, and INSC 20153). You are not required to have already completed these courses to apply. However, students are strongly encouraged to take at least two of the first-year requirements as non-business students (ENGL 10803, ECON 10223, ECON 10233, or MATH 10283); not doing so may result in delaying graduation. NOTE: Each of these courses must be taken for a grade. No Pass/No Credit is allowed.
Once a student is admitted into the business major, you will have specific deadlines established for passing the Microsoft Certification exams in PowerPoint and Excel. NOTE: Students are not required to complete these exams until after being admitted into the business school.
Neeley academic advisors are only available to current business students. We expect each student to take the initiative to use important resources already available to them until then.
