Electric shuttle buses provide connections to various districts of Chiayi City 

Description:  

National Chiayi University (NCYU) provides a regular, free, and university-operated shuttle service connecting its four campuses and major teaching, administrative, and student service facilities across Chiayi City and County. The shuttle service operates on fixed schedules throughout the academic year, allowing students, faculty, staff, and visitors to travel conveniently between campuses. Passengers can use the service free of charge by presenting their NCYU identification cards, ensuring accessible and efficient inter-campus transportation.  The university's primary shuttle fleet consists of solar-powered electric buses and small electric shuttle vehicles for on-campus transportation. Electric shuttle buses operate on regular inter-campus routes, while small electric shuttle vehicles are used for official duties, facility management, visitor transportation, and campus operations. Shuttle timetables and real-time vehicle information are available on the university's online information platform (Link 1), enabling users to plan their journeys conveniently.  To ensure uninterrupted transportation services during periods of high passenger demand, large-scale university events, or vehicle maintenance, NCYU maintains six conventional-fuel shuttle buses as backup vehicles for peak demand, major events, and operational contingencies. These vehicles are deployed only when operationally necessary, with an average usage frequency of less than 0.2 trips per day, while routine shuttle services are primarily provided by the university's electric shuttle fleet. In addition, NCYU collaborates with Guoguang Bus Company to provide approximately 25–36 shuttle services per day, further strengthening transportation connectivity between the university's campuses and surrounding areas (Link 2 and Link 3).  By providing regular, free, and predominantly electric shuttle services, supported by intelligent scheduling and real-time information systems, NCYU enhances campus accessibility while reducing reliance on private vehicles. These efforts contribute to SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and SDG 13 (Climate Action).
