Description:
National Chiayi University (NCYU) has established a comprehensive LMS-enabled digital literacy program to enhance the digital competencies of students, faculty, and administrative staff while supporting digital transformation, innovative teaching, and sustainable university governance. Through institutional policies, Learning Management Systems (LMS), digital learning platforms, blended learning, and continuous professional development, the university systematically integrates digital literacy into teaching, learning, administration, and lifelong learning.
As a member of the Taiwan AI College Alliance (TAICA) established by the Ministry of Education, NCYU provides students with access to cross-university AI learning resources through a shared digital learning platform. Students may enroll in interdisciplinary AI credit programs, including AI Exploration and Applications, AI Industrial Applications, AI Natural Language Technologies, and AI Visual Technologies, thereby expanding digital learning opportunities beyond institutional boundaries. In addition, NCYU continuously develops digital literacy curricula, including web programming, computational thinking, artificial intelligence applications, smart technologies, and digital innovation. During 2025, the university offered 109 digital micro-courses and 10 general education practice courses, enabling students to systematically strengthen their digital knowledge and practical skills.
To support digital transformation in teaching, NCYU provides continuous professional development for faculty members through LMS-based and blended learning programs. Regular workshops and seminars focus on digital course design, remote teaching management, MOOCs instructional design, AI-assisted teaching, multimedia production, and digital learning technologies. In 2025, the university organized 11 digital technology seminars with 447 faculty participants and 5 digital empowerment workshops, thereby continuously enhancing teaching quality, digital pedagogy, and innovative instructional practices.
Digital literacy is also incorporated into professional development for administrative staff. The university's annual staff training plan designates Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a core learning competency and integrates both online learning modules and face-to-face training through the e-Academy for Civil Servants learning platform and university workshops. More than 95% of administrative staff completed the required AI learning program in 2025, demonstrating institution-wide implementation of digital literacy. Training content, digital learning resources, and LMS-supported learning materials are regularly reviewed and updated to reflect emerging digital technologies, educational needs, and government policies. Through continuous implementation, evaluation, and curriculum enhancement, NCYU has established an LMS-enabled digital literacy program that supports lifelong learning, digital innovation, operational efficiency, and sustainable university development.
