Newcomers4Nuclear (NC4N) Global is an international platform offering energy advisory, education, advocacy, and capacity-building services for organizations and professionals entering the nuclear sector. We provide strategic guidance on nuclear energy integration, policy development, and sustainable energy solutions. Our programs empower stakeholders through expert consulting, training, and knowledge-sharing initiatives, fostering innovation, safety, and global collaboration to meet climate and energy goals.
"The project targets countries that are newly considering the adoption of nuclear power. This includes all African nations—except South Africa, which already operates nuclear facilities—as well as interested countries across Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Oceania. It is therefore an intercontinental initiative with a special emphasis on supporting emerging nuclear programs in Africa.
Additionally, the project is designed for individuals who currently have little or no knowledge of nuclear science but wish to learn—representing a significant portion of the global population. Our priority audiences include teenagers aged 6–20, young people under 35, girls and women, and early-career nuclear professionals.”

“I first learned about nuclear power during the Chernobyl disaster in 1986, and again four years later in Chemistry classes when we studied radioactivity. In the 2000s, I began hearing about the peaceful, civil applications of nuclear energy. My first direct engagement with the nuclear community came in 2021, when I met nuclear associations during COP26 in Glasgow. Since then, I have participated in more than 150 training sessions, informational events, and capacity‑building webinars. In 2023, with the support of my country’s association of women scientists, I founded Young Generation in Nuclear, Women in Nuclear, and STEM.”
Lanssina TO has been a member of the African Research and Innovation Hub for Nuclear Disarmament and Verification; and Association University of Nuclear and Allied Sciences.
NEWCOMER4NUCLEAR was in the pipelines since 2021. During IRPS in August 2024 in Sweden contacts were made with participants from other continents to be part of NewComers4Nuclear. On January 24th, a first meeting was held with representatives from other continents such as Europe, Asia and the Americas on the Google Meet platform. Since then, we have been organizing 02 webinars per month on the use of civil nuclear power.

Newcomers4Nuclear Global is built on six strategic components that together reflect the full spectrum of peaceful nuclear applications and the multidisciplinary expertise required to support emerging nuclear nations. These components provide a comprehensive framework for education, capacity‑building, policy development, and technological innovation. They ensure that Member States can access reliable information, training pathways, and collaborative platforms across the major pillars of civil nuclear science and technology.
This component focuses on the peaceful generation of electricity and heat through nuclear power. It includes understanding reactor technologies, energy planning, safety culture, regulatory frameworks, financing models, and the role of nuclear power in sustainable development and clean‑energy transitions.
This component covers the use of nuclear techniques in healthcare, including diagnostics (such as PET and SPECT imaging), radiotherapy for cancer treatment, and the production and safe handling of medical radioisotopes. It supports capacity‑building for hospitals, medical physicists, and health systems.
Dedicated to ensuring the safe use of ionizing radiation, this component includes training on safety standards, radiation monitoring, emergency preparedness, occupational exposure limits, and regulatory compliance. It empowers professionals to maintain safe environments in industry, medicine, agriculture, and research.
This component strengthens understanding of international security frameworks, the NPT, safeguards, export controls, verification technologies, and diplomatic processes that prevent the spread of nuclear weapons. It prepares young professionals and policymakers to engage with global disarmament and verification efforts responsibly.
Focused on the nuclear techniques that support sustainable development, this component includes applications such as soil and water management, climate‑resilient agriculture, food irradiation, environmental monitoring, and isotope hydrology. It highlights how nuclear science addresses global challenges in food production, water scarcity, and environmental protection.
This component promotes the adoption of cutting‑edge digital tools in the nuclear field. It includes artificial intelligence for data analysis and safety optimization, digital twin technology for reactor modeling and training, and the exploration of quantum computing for next‑generation simulation and security systems. It prepares Member States for the digital transformation of the nuclear sector.
