The First E-virtual edition of the NewComers4Nuclear Summer School 2025 was co-organized with Women in Nuclear Global-Women in Nuclear Innovation (WiNI) group of experts. NewComers4Nuclear Summer School is a university open to the world, open to all participants from any country. NewComers4Nuclear aims to demystify Nuclear science for the benefit of scientists and non-scientists alike.

This webinar provides a comprehensive overview of nuclear weapons and the international frameworks guiding their control and elimination. It begins with an introduction to the fundamental principles of nuclear weapons and fissile materials, followed by an exploration of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and the IAEA’s Comprehensive Safeguards Agreement (CSA). The session then examines technical pathways for verified nuclear disarmament, highlighting similarities and differences with existing safeguards. Finally, the role of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) in shaping global disarmament efforts will be discussed.
