What this policy is about:
In compliance with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) which came into effect in May 2018, this policy explains how we collect, store and handle your personal data, how we use it, keep it secure and your rights in relation to it.
We will always comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) when dealing with your personal data. Further details on the GDPR can be found at the website for the Information Commissioner. For the purposes of the GDPR, we - the Newmarket Badminton Federation (NBF) - will be the "controller" of all personal data we hold about you.
Basic principles:
We will always use your data within the law.
We will never sell your data.
We will not share your personal data with any third parties e.g. for marketing purposes without your prior consent (which you are free to withhold) except where required to do so for County / Badminton England (BE) purposes or by law.
We aim to ask only for information necessary for the league to function. Most of the information is also required for County / BE affiliation / any insurance obligation. Contact information is also needed for us to keep you informed and for clubs to be able to communicate particularly regarding league matches and competitions.
You are free to ask us to remove personal details held by us at any time by contacting jhjohnharvey@aol.com .
What data is collected / held:
name, email address, mobile phone number.
What the data is used for and who has access to it:
All club contact information collected shall be held by the NBF League for the purpose of administrating the league only - such as collecting fees due, organising AGM/fixture meetings, league matches and competitions.
The personal contact details of the secretary and match secretary and specified club chair/captains shall be distributed by the NBF League Committee to all club secretaries within the league. Further distribution of the personal contact details is expected to occur as necessary to individual league club contacts to support the organisation, rescheduling and cancellation of matches over the badminton season. Information on league competitions shall also be distributed to relevant league club contacts over the season.
Contact details may also be shared with County and BE who will have their own privacy policies.
How and where the data is stored:
We have implemented generally accepted standards of technology and operational security in order to protect personal data from loss, misuse, or unauthorised alteration or destruction. Data is held securely by the NBF league secretary.
Please note however that where you are transmitting information to us over the internet this can never be guaranteed to be 100% secure and email addresses can attract spam.
For any payments which we take from you on-line we will use a recognised on-line secure payment system.
We will notify you promptly in the event of any breach of your personal data which might expose you to serious risk.
Date Retention and your rights:
We will hold your personal data on our systems until notified of any changes. Personal data will be reviewed and updated for current contacts at least annually.
You have rights under the GDPR regarding your personal data to access, view, correct, erase, object or restrict use or take any complaints (‘phone: 0303 123 1113) about how we process your personal data to the Information Commissioner.
