JH: NBF 50th planned for 2025, update stuff below and add Belgium, any other social, etc
In 2005, the Federation celebrated 30 years:
Players past and present celebrated Newmarket Badminton Federation’s thirtieth season at the Newmarket Heath Court Hotel on Friday 27th May 2005.
Former committee member Dudley White was his usual entertaining self as he recounted a potted history of the years from when the league was formed in 1975 to date. He shared fond memories of founder clubs such as Dullingham and venues such as their renowned “cosy” village hall, the joys of Houldsworth Valley School low ceiling and Risby where the stage was the back line and players huddled round the electric fire to fight off the chilblains.
He reminded all of Newmarket’s continued domination of the leagues with only a few blips, most notably Terry Mills’ all stars playing for the New Astley Badminton Club (NABs) and Sporting Reflex (affectionately known as “rejects”).
There has been plenty of material for Dudley to embarrass many individuals players over the years so he duly obliged, but the overall theme was how the Federation still represented the opportunity for local players to compete in a friendly league and hoped that we would all still be playing in another thirty years time.
Much credit for a memorable and enjoyable evening goes to the current NBF secretary and organiser Sandra Arnold (centre of pictured, holding her balloons) who had also pulled together scrapbooks and photographs of local and international exploits of players over the period.

NBF's 33rd Celebration Dinner and Dance Friday on 23rd May 2008, 7pm for 7.30pm
The end of season annual social evening was again held at the Heath Court Hotel, Moulton Road, Newmarket, although due to reduced numbers this year without the dance. Those of us who made it had a fab evening with lovely food and good company, so credit to Sandra and Heath Court Hotel for arranging an excellent "Plan B"
Original specification was:
£24.50 per head (numbers by Friday 9th May 2008) - details and the menu.
The minimum number to make this a go-er is 40, but last year this was a popular event so we suggest that you get your orders in ASAP as places are on a first come first served basis.
