Here is a link to the Nature Calgary web site? Click here.
This is a planning site for Nature Calgary Trip Leaders. For information about leading a Nature Calgary field trip, click: here.
Prior to each newsletter, the Field Trip Coordinator sends a request to all leaders asking them to offer to lead trips during the period covered by the upcoming newsletter.
The preferred format for submitting a proposed trip is:
Day Month Date Time am pm: Title of the walk. A comment about the walk. Directions to the meeting location. Leader, Name 403 123-1234. The comment about the walk can include expected duration, species likely to be seen, if registration is required, pack a lunch or any other relevant information. However, we are not too fussy; if you send me the basics of date, time and location I will sort out the rest.
Here is an example:
Sat Jan 20, 9:00am: Carburn Park. We will spend the morning trying for winter birds. Meet in parking lot. From Glenmore Tr., go S at 18 St SE to 2nd stoplight, turn right and follow signs to the Park. Finish by noon. Leader Howard Heffler, 403-284-2961.
The following pages are intended to assist trip leaders to select dates and locations for field trips. These pages are intended as a guide to trip leaders; they cannot be edited by anyone other than Nature Calgary organizers.
Page One: List of Field Trips for the current year (2021).
You can use this list to see all trips that have been completed so far this year and see trips that are proposed for future dates until the end of the year. This will assist you in selecting an available date to offer to lead an outing. The Field Trip Coordinator will keep this page as up-to-date as possible as future trips are offered.
Page Two: Archive of last year's trips (2020).
Here are the trips from last year.
Page Three: Archive of past trips (2014 to 2019).
These pages list the trips from previous years. This is helpful to see what times of year, and even what times of day, previous leaders (or you) have led trips in the past. You can then copy one of these previous trips, adjust the day and date, and send it to the Field Trip Coordinator. Of course, there is no need to simply repeat past trips: new and different trips are welcome; even preferred.
Page Four: Archive of past trips for each month.
These pages, one for each month, show past outings. This is helpful to select a destination, and even a meeting time, when you are trying to decide where you might propose an outing for the upcoming newsletter. The intent of these pages is to jog your memory of popular destinations for any time of year. But anything new and different is always welcome.
