Sat Feb 23, 9:30am to late afternoon: Snowy Owl Prowl. Once again we set out in quest for the legendary Snowy Owl on Nature Calgary’s annual Snowy Owl Prowl. Sat Mar 2, 6:45am to 10am: Magpie Dispersal, North Glenmore Park, Weaselhead Natural area. We'll walk over to the edge to watch hundreds of Magpies leave their overnight roosting area as the sun rises at 7:18am. Following this we'll walk down into the Weaselhead to look for other winter birds. Meet in the Weaselhead parking lot, 37 St SW and 66 Av. Sat, Apr 27, 11:00 - 12:00pm: Nature Kids: Who Am I? Put your detective skills to the test as you use clues and fun facts to investigate Alberta's amazing wildlife. This will be an indoor, games-based activity. Cost for our program participants will be provided. During the event, families who wish to see the exhibits may pay the admission fee or explore the nature park around the centre. Windy Point Hawk Watch. 8:00am start and full day. Multiple dates. Peter Roxburgh has offered to lead people on a real birding adventure in the Sheep River Valley. A strenuous one-hour hike takes you to a world-class hawk watching site with the chance of seeing up to 10 species of raptors during their fall migration. The proposed dates are: Thurs Oct 3rd, Sun Oct 6th. Wed Oct 9th, Sun Oct 13th, Wed Oct 16th, Wed Oct 23rd. May be a space limitation. Fri Oct 4 9:00:am: Irrigation Canal, SE Calgary. Meet at the dirt parking lot on the NW corner of 26th Street SE and Gosling Way SE - we will possibly carpool down to a safer access point. Directions: From Deerfoot: take 17th Avenue east, turn south on 26th Street SE, drive 1.7 km to Gosling Way, turn right and immediately right again into the dirt parking lot.
