As an Honors Program student, I will engage in at least three High-Impact Practices (HIPs) throughout my academic journey at SLCC. One of the HIPs is a strong ePortfolio, and the other two may include Undergraduate Research, Study Abroad, Domestic Study, Community-Based Learning, Internship, Publication, Writing Intensive, Common Intellectual Experience, or another HIP that meets with the approval of SLCC’s Honors Program.
Honors HIPs meet the following requirements: 1) considerable time and effort required (typically a semester or longer), 2) facilitated learning outside the classroom, 3) meaningful interactions between faculty, staff, students, or community partners, 4) collaboration across disciplines and cultures, 5) frequent and meaningful feedback and guidance from mentors, staff, faculty, peers, 6) reflective and integrative learning opportunity by documenting and reflecting on the HIP experience in ePortfolio, 7) public demonstration of competence through publishing or presenting.
