By completing my Climate Action project, I improved my critical thinking, research, problem-solving, civic literacy, and community engagement skills. The enhancement of those skills can be seen in my project. Through the research process, the use of my analytical, evaluative, and synthetic skills, and the use of reasoning to compose the information on the slides, my development in critical thinking can be seen. Likewise, my development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills can be seen in the solutions proposed in my project.
The development of my civic literacy and community engagement can be fully appreciated in my project. Investigating a topic that interests and concerns me, proposing solutions, and sharing the information I find demonstrates my deep commitment to supporting my community and my desire to help the planet. Through this project, I was able to produce learning and awareness-raising materials that address my chosen topic and share them with my community.
These skills are very important for future work and careers because they allow individuals to continue developing their potential and skills, and to carry with them their commitment to the community and their values. These skills will greatly assist professionals throughout their careers. Critical thinking, research skills, and problem-solving skills will enable a person to be an efficient and quick-thinking professional. In addition, civic literacy and community engagement will help them develop a determined mindset to do good, while upholding their principles for their community.
This course has taught me so many things that have undoubtedly greatly influenced my life. Learning about the different ecosystems on the planet and how climate change affects each of them made me look beyond what I knew. I had a very general understanding of what climate change was, and to be honest, I limited myself to thinking about it because I was afraid of knowing the magnitude of the damage the planet is experiencing. After completing the assignments, activities, discussions, and project, I was able to gain a complete picture of what I was ignoring. While the current situation worries me greatly, I believe it's essential to learn and talk about the topic.
I think the most important thing I learned from the course was the current situation of planet Earth. I found it very sad to learn and see the situation we find ourselves in and how the magnitude of the damage is growing, which makes me think about how rapidly our environment is deteriorating. Without a doubt, learning all of this information, which I consider very sad and painful, had a huge impact on me.
It made me realize that, even though I'm just one person, it's in my power to contribute and make a difference. We still have time to do something to help the planet, and while it may seem pointless to try since I'm just one person, I'm sure more people are willing to contribute to this cause. Seeing the current state of our environment was painful, but that impact influenced the person I am today. Now more than ever, I am committed and willing to do my part for this cause.
