My Story of a Bad Incident in My Demo Class:
During the second semester of my post-graduation in ELT, we had to present a Demonstration Class as part of the practicum course. Being a skilled presenter, speaker, and debater from my childhood, I was always confident in teaching as well. Besides, my experience in teaching in different private coaching centers, junior schools & colleges, & private tutoring added to the skillful ground of my confidence. I had never got second class(not less than A grade) in any of my presentations during my university life. Therefore, my confidence level and my preparation were much better for the Practicum Demo Class. One more thing to mention is that I had expertise in computer literacy & as per the thing I had been always euphemized by my teachers for my outstanding and unique presentation slides. Therefore, overall things were really good and under my control for the practicum demo class. Thus, my experiences from the session include both goods and bads.

Now the bads come first. Sometimes luck matters a lot as it takes over the situation. During my session, the multimedia system of that classroom suddenlysuddenly stopped responding correctly. Already my turn had begun. I felt a great sense of unease when it was not responding even after my several trials to fix it fast. Reasons behind the occurrence, first of all, it stopped working perhaps since there was a problem with the cable through which II connected the projector to my laptop. It might have been problematic. Secondly, maybe my laptop's HDMI port had a problem. Or, maybe the projector was overheated or hung.

Finally, I found another way to continue my class. I presented the slides converting them to PDF and opened them through the desktop of that classroom making just a PDF page scrolling. I felt bad that I couldn’t show the smart & lively slides I prepared especially for this demonstration class.

Nonetheless, I kept myself strong and tried to keep my confidence level as much as I could just forgetting what occurred just before the time with a smiley face. Moreover, I interacted with the students in my class, trying to shift the environment the incident created. I tried to make fun of interactions as well. Thus I continued my class which was appreciated by the observer when she gave feedback on my performance.

Learnings from it:
A great lesson from the class I obtained is immense. I did not manage the class any other way not wasting the class time. Moreover, I should have continued my class first. Afterward, I could give the students some tasks and in the meantime, I could try fixing them, but I stopped and kept trying to fix them. That wasted the class time. The lesson from this incident is that I will handle the situation more smartly rather not only wasting the time of the class. A teacher should always have a backup plan B.

Overall, the practicum journey was very interesting for me as I like practicality in education. Real-time practice of teaching and classroom observations and presentations, demonstration classes add to the practical knowledge of a student. Thus, what I learned from this course will be ever fresh in my memory, and incorporate it into my professional practices in the future. Moreover, the things and skills regarding classroom management especially in times of a sudden unwanted inconvenience.
