The 32nd Annual North American Dendroecological Fieldweek (NADEF) will be held at the beautiful University of Nevada - Reno at Lake Tahoe Campus. The fieldweek will run from July 19th through July 28th, 2023 and registration fees will be $1750 US for students and $1800 US for professionals. Registration for Tree-Ring Society Members (https://www.treeringsociety.org/) is $1700 for students and $1750 for professionals. Your registration fee includes room and board for the entire workshop. Registration fees are due by May 30, 2023.

2 - Thursday, July 20 Field day. Evening lecture: cleaning and sharpening increment borers.
3 - Friday, July 21 Laboratory day/Field day. Evening lecture: Crossdating.
4 - Saturday, July 22 Laboratory day. Evening lecture: CooRecorder and Cdendro.
5 - Sunday, July 23 Laboratory day. Evening lecture: Detrending and Standardization.
6 - Monday, July 24 Free day with hiking opportunities.
7 - Tuesday, July 25 Laboratory day. Evening lecture: Dendro packages in R.
8 - Wednesday, July 26 Laboratory day. Evening lecture: CaptuRING.
9 - Thursday, July 27 Laboratory day. 1pm presentation of projects. Closing celebration.
10 - Friday, July 28 Travel day.
Deliverables
Each group will develop and present a PowerPoint presentation to all of the fieldweek participants, starting at 1pm on July 27th. These presentations will subsequently be posted on the NADEF website. Each group will also produce a 5-page written report that will be compiled into the final report for the funding agencies, the field station, and the participants.

Accommodations
We are very excited to report that the workshop will be held at the UNR - Lake Tahoe Campus. For more information on the incredible facilities open to us during fieldweek, please visit the following link: https://www.unr.edu/lake-tahoe. The campus is located in Incline Village with access to amenities and recreation. Lodging will be dormitory style with three people per room with a private bathroom. You should bring a sleeping bag/twin fitted sheet/blanket and pillow for bedding. Meals will be served in the campus cafeteria. Please note any dietary restrictions on the registration page.
Getting There
The first event on July 19 is dinner around 6 PM, followed by introductions by all of the participants, and an introductory lecture. For those driving, the University of Nevada - Reno at Lake Tahoe Campus is located at 999 Lake Tahoe Boulevard, Incline Village, NV 89451. Parking is available onsite. For those flying, we will have shuttle buses to bring you from the airport on July 19 and for the return trip on July 28. Please arrange to arrive at the Reno-Tahoe International Airport by 4 PM on July 19 (if possible) so that we can get you to the Lake Tahoe Campus in time for the first events. Also, please arrange to fly out from Reno after 10 AM (if possible) on July 28 so that we have time to get you down to the airport without having to leave the field station before 7 AM.
What to bring
PC laptop (Mac is okay too but CooRecorder only works on Windows)
Field clothes including boots
Sleeping bag and pillow or twin bedding
Increment borer if you have one. We will have many to share as well!
Preparation
For those new to dendrochronology, we recommend Jim Speer’s Fundamentals of Tree-Ring Research as an entry point to the discipline. It is also helpful to have the R program and Rstudio installed and updated on your computers. We will use R packages for data analysis. If you are new to R, check out this free self-guided Intro to R course.
