Submission of Media

Thank you for helping the expansion of material for the North American Coin-op Laundry guide. Before you submit any media (images, videos, brochures, etc.), PLEASE read every bit of this.

Submission rules

Copyright declarations

In the submission form, you must truthfully declare the media's license. You must also declare if this is your original work or you found it elsewhere (ie. the internet, Wikimedia Commons, Flickr, etc.) If you are found solely taking images off the internet and giving them bogus credit/licensing, that is shunned and is very serious matters as it could lead to potential copyright infringement. When declaring the license of the media on the form, here is what each term means:

• Public Domain/CCO (by age or other legit reason): Literally the work is in the public domain by age or whatever principle of copyright law.
• CC BY: Reuse and modification of media for any purpose permitted provided that credit is given
• CC SA: Reuse and modification of media for any purpose permitted provided that modifications remain under the same license/terms (defunct license)
• CC BY SA: Reuse and modification of media for any purpose permitted provided that credit is given and modifications remain under the same license/terms
• CC BY NC: Reuse and modification of media for noncommercial purposes permitted provided that credit is given
• CC BY NC SA: Reuse and modification of media for noncommercial purposes permitted provided that credit is given and modifications remain under the same license/terms
• CC BY ND: Reuse of media for any purpose permitted that credit is given and no modifications are done to it (images may be cropped to properly size the website)
• CC BY NC ND: Reuse of media for noncommercial purposes permitted that credit is given and no modifications are done to it (images may be cropped to properly size the website)
• Free Art License (FAL): A similar and compatible license to the CC BY-SA license
• GFDL: A free license. If the image is dual licensed, please consider using the listed Creative Commons (CC) instead due to the conditions of the license requiring the entire text. However, if your image is licensed under the GFDL, it will be fine
• Permission is granted for this website only: Basically meaning "all rights reserved", but you are giving me permission for the specific piece of media to be used exclusively on the North American Coin-op Laundry Guide (NACoLG) only. Never use this option unless you own the work.
• Fair Use: ONLY use this when you are declaring still-copyrighted works to be used under the principle of Fair Use as allowed by the United States Copyright Act of 1976. These are the four principles of fair use below:
  • The purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is in a commercial nature or for nonprofit, educational purposes
    The used of such copyrighted material falls under this principle and such uses have historically been considered fair use in court.
  • The nature of the copyrighted work
    The materials depicted on this site are published, non-fiction works, primarily intended for advertising and information, and made available for distribution and download by the general public for no charge at the time of publication.
  • The amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole
    The amount of copyrighted material reused is only necessary for educational purposes, which is the main intention of the North American Coin-op Laundry Guide
  • The effect of the use upon the potential market for or value of the copyrighted work
    Such use of copyrighted material will not have any negative impact on the market or the product this is being involved in.

You will receive an email from me if your media gets approved for publication on this site. By submitting media, you agree to not make me pay any monetary value to use your images, even though you are giving me permission, and agree that your image may appear on random pages on the site that's not the page you want the thing in. Spammers will be blocked for life.
