Description of the museum
Our museum is about Federico Barocci and his paintings.
Federico Barocci was born in Urbino in 1535 and died in 1612. He is one of the most important painter of his time in Europe. Some of his paintings have dark colors but in all his works there is a light coming from the sky that lights up the scene. It symbolizes the divine grace. The works are arranged in chronological order.

This picture represents the immaculate conception, painted in 1585 for the church of San Francesco in Urbino. The attributes of the virgin are the blue mantle that represents her divinity and the dress robe that symbolizes her humanity. Under her feet there is the moon that symbolizes her being the queen of skies.
The Virgin Mary is located in a cloud surrounded by stars with wings that represent the angelic hosts. Below her there are people who are under her protection, because she opens her hands and this gesture underlines protection for the faithful ones, who are represented with sixteenth century clothes.
