The National Library 

Architects Viktor Kramarenko and Mikhail Vinogradov suggested the Belarusian diamond design that combines functionality and modern design solutions. The National Library of Belarus was opened  on the 16th of June in 2006.

The National Library is located in the park zone of the Slepyanka River and greenery  system. A bronze sculpture of the printing pioneer Frantsisk Skorina (by Aleksandr Dranets and Viktor Kramarenko) has been placed in front of the building.


Belarusian State Museum of the Great Patriotic War History 

The museum opens its doors to everyone who is interested in the history of the Great Patriotic and World War II. It is the largest national repository of the material and spiritual monuments of military history. The architecture of the building impresses by its scale and symbolism. The monumentality and modern technology are harmoniously combined in it. Non-standard spatial and architectural techniques and imaginative solutions create the feeling of the greatest tragedy and at the same time immerse the visitor in an atmosphere of courage and achievement. 

The Opera and Ballet Theatre of Belarus

The National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater of the Republic of Belarus is one of the biggest theaters in Europe and the architectural landmark of Minsk. 

The new elements include crystal chandeliers of the 1950s style, gypsum details, ceiling paintings, golden stucco work along with red velvet curtains and drapery. The interior features natural stones, marble and granite. The floors are made from nine kinds of granite and are adorned by ornaments.Three floors have been added to the building after the renovation. 

2006 saw the launch of the restoration and renovation project under the guidance of architect Anatoly Shabalin. The project was based on photos made in the 1940s-1950s and also Iosif Langbard’s sketches.
